About Mulberry House

A full range of complementary health therapies, classes and workshops are provided at this large and well established clinic located at Manor Place in the heart of Edinburgh. Therapists are welcome to hire the well-equipped rooms at the clinic. Low income clinics are available at affordable prices for unemployed patients and those who cannot afford the costs of complementary healthcare. Services at the clinic include acupuncture, counselling, aromatherapy, chiropractic services, the Bowen technique, osteopathy and cranio-sacral therapy, psychotherapy, deep tissue massage and sports massage, Tui Na massage and traditional Chinese medicine, Hopi ear candling and hypnotherapy.

Avril Berry

Biography:

Avril studied Classical Rishi Culture Yoga  with Yogamaharishi Dr. Swami Gitananda Giri Guru Maharaj at the International Centre for Yoga Education and Research, South India.  Avril has been with Mulberry House since it was founded in 1999 and runs very popular classes for all ages and experience.

Avril also trained with The Yoga Biomedical Trust at the Yoga Therapy Centre in London and with Francoise Freedman, Director of Birthright in Cambridge.

 

Qualifications

International Yoga Teachers Training Certificate under the direct supervision of Yogashiromani Yogarishi Dr. Swami Gitananda, Acharya.

Jian Feng

Biography:

Jian completed a five-year intensive course in the School of Acupuncture Moxibustion, in Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), one of the oldest universities of TCM in China. 

After being awarded Bachelor Degree of Medical Science in 1990, she worked in the hospital of the university, where she practised acupuncture and herbal medicine and became a qualified Doctor of TCM.

She came to Britain in 1996 and worked very successfully in England before moving to Edinburgh in 1999 where she began practising in Mulberry House. Jian has been a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) for over ten years, who regulates this profession in UK and maintains high standards of education, ethics, discipline and practice to ensure the health and safety of the public at all times.

Over the years, Jian has been treating a broad range of complaints and going to China regularly to take extensive trainings in specific areas, including male and female fertility issues, gynaecological conditions, muscular-skeletal & neurological pain and mental-emotional problems. 

Jian completed further training with fertility expert Zeta West in London in 2010. With her advanced training and 21 years experience in practice, Jian is one of the most highly qualified chinese doctors in Edinburgh.

Lena C.D. Fong

Biography:

Lena studied with the Northern College of Acupuncture in York to gain a certificate in Acupuncture. 

Lenas interest in health care emerged during her studies at Edinburgh University where she trained to be a research chemist. She was drawn particularly to complementary medicine after having seen amazing improvements to arthritic pain experienced by her long-suffering mother.

Lenas appointments are 1hr and £45.

Patrick Harding

Biography:

Patrick Harding is the principal Osteopath at Mulberry House and also one of the Mulberry House directors.

He studied in London at the British College of Naturopathy and Osteopathy (BCNO) and qualified in 1989. Prior to this he had worked as a hospital pharmacist.  He began practicing as an Osteopath in Edinburgh in 1996 and set up Mulberry Osteopaths in 1999.

Caitlin Heavey

Biography:

Caitlin Heavey has more than 12 years experience as a YogaBirth teacher and Childbirth educator. 

Caitlin qualified as a Certified Active Birth Teacher in 1994 and was taught by Janet Balaskas, director of the Active Birth Centre in London.

At the heart of her philosophy is a deep respect for the right of every woman to choose how and where to birth her baby. My aim is to give you the support, information and experience you need to make the best choices for you and your baby. The classes and courses are designed with this in mind.

 

Ewan Kenny

Biography:

Ewan has practised Craniosacral Therapy since 1999. He trained in Edinburgh and has completed several advanced courses throughout the UK.  He treats people of all ages and regularly works with babies. 

Ewan also teach classes in Qigong, Taiji (Tai Chi) and Dao Yin.  He lives in Edinburgh with his wife and his three children.
