About IBS Hypnotherapy

A Hypnotherapy service with a special interest in treating patients with irritable bowel syndrome is offered at this clinic located within the Wellforce Integrated Medicine Centre located at Wilkinson Street in Sheffield. The qualified hypnotherapist  offers a free 15 minute consultation where she explains her services to potential clients and allows them to find out if Hypnotherapy interests them. She performs hypnotherapy to increase relaxation and reduce stress  and uses gut-directed suggestions, the purpose of which is to modify gut function and sensitivity. She also helps people deal with the way IBS can make them feel about themselves and can give advice on practical solutions if required.  Therapy usually involves 6 sessions lasting for one hour over 2 to 3 months and follow up sessions if requested to ensure that patients enjoy continuous relief.

Janet Tomlin is a member of the National Hypnotherapy Society.

There was plenty of time at each appointment, without them feeling rushed

I had treatment for IBS symptoms of pain, discomfort, bloating and trapped wind.
Each session included a time of relaxation and some explanation of how the gut works and how to manage symptoms. In addition, Janet gave me various information sheets and 4 CD's (which she'd recorded for me) to play at home.

I feel that I have benefited from the sessions, in that I have a clearer understanding of the gut's workings and more control over my symptoms.
I would certainly recommend that a friend with similar symptoms considered going this route. I think it was quite good value for money, though knew there wouldn't be a 'cure'; I just feel in a better position now.

I searched online for hypnotherapists in Sheffield and chose Janet because she specialized in IBS and seemed to be well qualified in this area. I found her friendly and easy to get on with. She gave me the opportunity to ask questions and describe my situation in detail and there was plenty of time at each appointment, without them feeling rushed.

Biography:

Janet Tomlin trained in Hypnotherapy in order to help people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome after doing physiological assessments of patients with bowel problems in NHS hospitals for 12 years. Before this she was a University research scientist in the areas of gastroenterology and aspects of nutrition related to the bowels. She has combined sensitivity and compassion with relevant scientific knowledge, and regularly updates her skills with regular training. She is a member of the National Hypnotherapy Society.
