Since 1996 I have been practicing various forms of Complementary medicine. I am passionate in my belief that Acupuncture can and does bring fantastic results. I have opened Mei Zen Clinic's of Acupuncture in Castlebar Ballina and Ballinrobe Co Mayo in 2009. I'm registered with the which is  one of the  longest established and is the largest  regulatory body for the practice of acupuncture and Chinese medicine in Ireland. What is acupuncture? Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used systems of healing in the world. Originating in China some 3,500 years ago, only in the last three decades has it become popular in the United States Traditional Chinese medicine hold that there are as many as 2,000 acupuncture points on the human body, which are connected by 20 pathways (12 main, 8 secondary) called meridians. These meridians conduct energy, or qi (pronounced "chi"), between the surface of the body and its internal organs. Each point has a different effect on the qi that passes through it. Qi is believed to help regulate balance in the body. It is influenced by the opposing forces of yin and yang, which represent positive and negative energy and forces in the universe and human body. Acupuncture is believed to keep the balance between yin and yang, thus allowing for the normal flow of qi throughout the body and restoring health to the mind and body. Does it hurt? Unlike hypo

A multi-layered approach is used in the clinic to get the best results. Treatments include: Acupuncture, Chinese Massage and Cupping Therapy, Moxibustion, Electro Acupuncture, Herbal Formulas, Nutritional Therapy and I also specialise in Infertility Treatment. Acupuncture has become one of the most popular and well established forms of complementary medicine. The World Health Organisation recognises Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. How does it work?Chinese Medicine recognises that our body’s physical health is intimately connected to the lifestyle we are living, as well as our psychological and emotional well-being.When the Qi (our body’s essential life force) becomes blocked or depleted due to causes such as an injury, stress, emotional issues or our diet and lifestyle, then an imbalance develops. This can manifest as pain, fatigue, poor immune function, digestive problems and emotional disturbances including stress and depression. Eventually if left un-treated, the imbalance will become more severe and illness ensues. Treatment aims to restore the body’s own natural in-built ability to heal itself, to remove the underlying causes of pain and disease and to restore a greater sense of relaxation and well-being to our life.  Jacqueline Feeley James Lic.Ac.TCM. "We trust them 100% and wouldn't go anywhere else"Kim, Dublin, 05 Mar 14
"My partner and I are currently attending the clinic. We have had failed fertilisation with ICSI. I know the clinic did everything they could to try and make it work and we will be having our second ICSI with them soon. We trust them 100% and wouldn't go anywhere else. All the staff are so lovely, they answer any questions I have ( which is a lot) and always ring me back within a couple of hours of leaving a message. The clinic is small, but this definitely makes it more personal. Can't recommend them enough."

Sims IVF

"Very professional and informative doctor"Carmen, Ireland, 15 Mar 14
"We attended an open information morning in December. It's all very new to us and was a big step. They asked us to fill out a questionnaire on the day and said that we would then get our first consultation free. We thought we have nothing to lose so we made an appointment to see Dr. O. We couldn't fault the doctor at all; he was very professional and informative. The receptionist on the other hand was a different story. She claimed we had to pay for the appointment and then made it out that we were lying about the information morning. Good thing I had email confirmation that our initial consultation was free. She then tried to charge us half price! It has turned us off going back. They turned something so simple into a traumatic experience for us both."

Fertility Check was established in Cork in 2012 to provide Irish men with a dedicated fertility testing service. A key feature of this service is to provide testing in a discrete, efficient and reassuring manner. Appointments can be booked online without the need to queue or wait. Fertility Check caters for men both at the early stages of investigation for infertility and also for those requiring more advanced comprehensive testing. Services range from a simple approximation of sperm count to in-depth analysis at a genetic level. The postal service allows vasectomy patients an easier alternative route of testing post-operation. We understand that the subject of fertility can be a very private and personal matter. We will do our best to help you find answers and solutions to issues related to your reproductive health.
