Dr Almasri relocated to the UK in 1992, having obtained his degree from Damascus University School of Medicine in 1990. Following a number of positions in hospitals in the UK, Dr Almasri then obtained a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 1998.
