Biography:
MBBS DRCOG FRCGP. Qualifying from Newcastle 1985, and after training on the Northumbria GP training programme he joined the practice as a partner in 1989. Having an interest in the education of future doctors he gained a certificate in postgraduate education in 2001 and then has spent time as a medical student teacher, trainer for the NGPTP and foundation school. In 2004 he became a training programme director for the Northumbria training programme and went on to be an Associate Director at the Northern Deanery. In 2014 he returned to spend more time in the practice ,but continues to supervise the foundations doctors that rotate through the practice.

MBBS MRCGP DRCOG FP Cert. Registered 1989 at Newcastle University. He has been a partner in the Practice since 1995. He is based at Amble Health Centre. He is an established trainer of Specialist GP Registrars. He runs the new baby health check clinic. His activities outside the Practice are largely centred around his family and their many sporting activities.

MBChB FRCGP DRCOG DFSRH PhD. Registered 1990 at University of Leeds. He is Professor of General Practice and Primary Care, Sunderland University and part-time GP Principal in Coquet Medical Group, Amble, Northumberland. He joined Coquet Medical Group in September 1994 as a fulltime GP Principal and remained so for 9 years. In 2003 he split his time between academia and general practice and was awarded his PhD in 2008, entitled ‘Evaluation of open access hysterosalpingography in the initial management of infertility in primary care’. In October 2013 he was appointed as Professor of General Practice and Primary Care. He is the Primary Care Clinical Lead for the NIHR Primary Care Research Network (PCRN) Northern and Yorkshire and the NIHR Northumberland Tyne and Wear Comprehensive Local Research Network (NTW CLRN) and GP R&D Lead for the North of England Commissioning Support Unit. His research interests include the embedding of new technologies in the clinical consultation, pharmacy practice, the management of infertility in primary care, fertility preservation for cancer survivors and cancer diagnosis in primary care. Additional research interests include smoking cessation, thyroid disease, stroke, peripheral vascular disease and complex interventions. His research experience includes the use of multiple research methods in health care evaluation including randomised controlled trials, focus groups and in-depth interviews.
