What is hCG? hCG is an abbreviation for Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin. It is a hormone that is produced by the placenta during pregnancy. Likewise, when a patient is on the Dr. Simeon’s hCG Protocol small amounts of hCG have been shown to mobilize abnormal fat and to make it available to the body as a source of energy and nutrients. How is it possible to be on a 500* Calorie per day while on this Protocol? Some people have a hard time understanding the rationale behind the 500* Calorie per day diet. They may say that anyone would lose weight on a 500* Calorie per day diet or that it would be impossible to follow.
