About Cork Therapy Centre

We Treat, Sports Injuries covering pre-season screening, muscular injuries and ligament sprains, injury prevention, rehab includidng Pilates. Back and Neck pain and ergonomic advice and exercises programmes. Myofascial pain/Trigger points with Dry Needling and Acupuncture. Foot assessment and gait analysis for prescription orthoics and insoles. Paediatrics and Womens Health.

We are an award winning clinic and we are all chartered physiotherapists. We work in conjunction with doctors, consultants, coaches and gym instructors. The clinic is purpose designed with an on site gym and rehab area. The best time to telephone about these is between 9am and 6pm, when the receptionist is on duty.

Chartered Physiotherapist Eric Wolfe is a member of the Irish and English chartered Societies of Physiotherapy. He graduated from King's College London in 1999 following a four-year degree course.On graduating he completed his rotational experience in Greenwich Hospital London, before specialising in musculo-skeletal outpatients in Queen Elizabeth Hospital London. On travelling to New Zealand he continued to gain experience in musculo-skeletal injuries when working there as a Physiotherapist in Private Practice.

Chartered Physiotherapist Emma graduated Glasgow Caledonian University in 2003. Initially she worked in out-patients in a hosptial in her native Argyll on the west coast of sctland as well as voluntary work with her local soccerr team. Chartered Physiotherapist Graduating with a Masters in Physiotherapy from the University of Ulster at Jordanstown in 2005, Claire is currently a member of the Irish Society of Physiotherapists and Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice. She has a special interest in sports physiotherapy, and has treated athletes at international level. She initially worked in the Bon Secours Hospital in Cork from 2005 to 2007, before joining the Cork Therapy Centre on a full time basis in 2007. Claire is a keen sports person, and takes part in regular running and cycling training. She trains and competes with Leevale AC and won her first competition earlier this year, the Munster Novice Road Championships, winning silver for Club and County. Claire was team physiotherapist for Highfield RFC (Juniors) 2009 – 2010. Claire has completed a number of postgraduate chartered physiotherapy postgraduate musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, spinal, manual therapy and biomechanical courses, and has a particular interest in myofascial pain, employing a highly successful technique called dry needling of myofascial trigger points. She undertakes regular courses to improve her skills. Claire also lectures FETAC Level 6 and ITEC Anatomy and Physiology for Fitness Instructors, as well as teaching Spinal Anatomy and Back Care as part of Manual Handling Instructors’ Course.

Deirdre graduated with a B in Physiotherapy from university College Dublin in 1995. She is a practicing member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists.

Deirdre has sixteen years physiotherapy experience specialising in the assessment and management of paediatric conditions in hospitals both in Dublin and Cork. Deirdre has developed a special interest in the area of paediatrics because of its versatility and complexity andshe really enjoys the innovative nature of working with children and their families.

She has a great deal of experience working with children with a wide variety of conditions including: neuro-developmental conditions, congenital conditions, rehabilitation post surgery, musculo-skeletal conditions, rheumatologic conditions, childhood obesity, co-ordination disorders, postural management and many more.

Biography:

Seán graduated from the University of Limerick (UL), where he was a mature student, in June 2014 with a BSc in Physiotherapy (1st Class Honours). In September 2014 he commenced postgraduate research within the Department of Clinical Therapies in UL and is now pursuing a PhD. His research is looking at the effects of exercise in people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Seán has a keen interest in sport, having previously played with Belvedere Rugby Club. He is a qualified Ski-instructor, is a member of the British Association of Snowsport Instructors (BASI) and recently acted as Team Physiotherapist for the Scottish Ski Team. He is a qualified Pilates Instructor so understands the importance of mobility and stability in the rehabilitation of chronic injuries and teaches Pilates classes in the Clinic.

Fiona McDevitt, BScPhysio, MISCP, MCPA, MIACST, CST-T, CST-Eq, Chartered Physiotherapist & Cranio-Sacral Therapist.

Fiona McDevitt is a CranioSacral Therapist with 11 years experience with a foundation of 20 years experience as a Chartered Physiotherapist. This combination has allowed Fiona to see and treat each patient as an individual and give them the appropriate treatment to facilitate their unique condition.
