"I joined the practice in 1983 as a trainee working for Dr Kennedy. I was asked to stay after my trainee year and became a partner in 1984. I had previously trained at the Royal Free Hospital in London and embarked on a career in hospital medicine. However, with the birth of my second child and after gaining the MRCP I felt a career change was needed. I have been immersed in the joys of General Practice since then. My interest in General Medicine, particularly chest medicine, cardiology, endocrinology and therapeutics has continued into my general practice work. I have also worked for the London and Eastern Deanerys of Postgraduate General Practice since 1991, first as course organiser of the local scheme at St Albans and Hemel and then as Associate Dean responsible for all General practice training in East and North Herts. I also 'train the trainers' for London. You can see from this brief summary that my enthusiasm for General Practice extends into trying to support and encourage new doctors to become committed GPs. Outside work I have three children, two now at university, one still in a local school. My main interests are windsurfing, reading and gardening when time!"

"I joined the practice in 1987 after my registrar year in Wimbledon. I did my hospital jobs at The London Hospital working in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Anaethetics, and then Paediatrics in Newham and Psychiatry in North London. I am interested in all aspects of general practice especially family medicine. My enthusiasm for general practice has led me to be heavily involved in teaching. I am one of the trainers in the practice and supervise a GP registrar who is an experienced hospital doctor spending a year at Parkbury House. I also run the North West Hertfordshire Vocational scheme which is responsible for all new GP's training in this area. I hold a hospital post as Clinical assistant in Care of the Elderly working at the local hospital and am Lead clinician in Care of the Elderly for the locality. I am one of the approved appraisers of GP's working with the PCT to roll out a system of appraisal in General Practice. I am married with four daughters. My other interests include squash, skiing, and eating !"

"I joined the practice in 1993 having qualified at St George's Tooting and trained on the St Albans GP training scheme. I am one of the Trainer's at the practice and supervise a GP Registrar. I also have a special interest in acupuncture and offer this service to practice patients where suitable in a weekly clinic, after an initial consultation. I mainly use this for painful conditions but have treated a wide range of other problems also. My other interest include osteoporosis and child health problems but I enjoy the variety of all aspects of modern day General Practice. In addition to my practice committments I am a member of the Local Medical Committee (the representative body for local GPs) and am actively involved in giving advice on complaints and issues around poor performance. Outside work I have three daughter's (including twins!) to keep me busy and I have a great joy of gardening."

"I am a New Zealander and qualified as a Doctor in New Zealand. I came to the UK for further postgraduate training and forgot to go home! I have practiced in USA and also lived in Japan before joining Parkbury House in 1992. This was initially very part time but have increased my hours as family committments have lessened. I am interested in all aspects of general practice especially dermatology. Each week in addition to general practice I do 2 sessions at St Albans City Hospital as a hospital practitioner in dermatology in clinic work and also skin surgery. I am also keen on training and education particularly in minor surgery skills. Outside of the surgery I like outdoor pursuits- walking, cycling, skiing and gardening , reading and the theatre."

I have been a partner at the surgery since August 2000. I qualified as a doctor in 1996 from Nottingham Medical School and did my GP training in Banbury, Oxfordshire. I have an interest in cardiology and am a GPwSI (GP with a Special Interest)in Echocardiography, and spend two afternoons a week in our local Heart Failure diagnostic clinic. My other area of interest is IT: I am oversee our surgery's intranet and website, and am involved in STARPACE - our local primary care education website). I am married with 4 children and live in St Albans. My interests outside work include badminton, squash, finding babysitters and following my home team, Manchester United!
