Reviewed 24 April 2016 "My experience was very good"
"I have a severe skin allergy and went to this clinic after recommendations online. I realised when I got there, that's it's more of a cosmetic clinic, but Dr Treacy was very helpful and informative. I've recently become allergic to a chemical which is in most footwear worldwide, and in all types of plastic and rubber. It's been life changing and very stressful, as I can't always tell whether something I'm touching is hazardous to me. I find out within minutes if it is, as my skin rashes up quickly, and if I don't remove this immediately, my skin starts to blister and die. So I needed to know as much as possible about my condition, as the stress of it all, has now aided in the loss of hair from numerous parts of my body. All in all a very trying time. There's only so much that Google can tell me lol.

My experience was very good. The Dr gave me plenty of options going forward, and even gave treatment on the spot, and explained the whole process and what will happen in time. Overall I was very impressed, and will return. I am not sure yet about the fees going forward, I will find out that soon, but initial consult was 100euro, which gave me about 40 minutes consult, including blood tests and steroid injections and plenty of info on my problem. So I was extremely happy with the cost. Going forward will surely be expensive, depending what treatment I decide to take, but you are not pressurised into anything and can choose whichever treatment you wish, if any. Well worth seeing Dr Treacy, at least for initial consultation, to give you options."

Lovely office comfortable waiting room Great service interesting Doctor, made feel at ease and comfortable"

Deep Chemical Peel (30 mins)

During a deep chemical peel:

  • Youll be given intravenous (IV) fluids and your heart rate will be closely monitored.
  • Your doctor will use a cotton-tipped applicator to apply carbolic acid (phenol) to your skin. Treated skin will begin to turn white or gray.
  • To limit your exposure to phenol, your doctor will do the procedure in portions at 10- to 20-minute intervals. A full-facial procedure might take 60 to 90 minutes.

Platelet Rich Plasma Filler

Ailesbury Cliinc Dublin uses Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections to rejuvenate and slow down the aging process of the skin and face.

Benefits of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections in cosmetics

PRP is a recent technology that uses ingredients from your own blood to regenerate your skin and to rejuvenate collagen, resulting in vibrant, fresh younger looking skin. These ingredients reside within the fraction of your blood named "Platelet Rich Plasma" (PRP). PRP is enriched with platelets, stem cells and growth factors. Once injected into your skin, these substances will accelerate the normal healing process via new collagen formation at the injected area. Because your plasma (autologous) is used, there is no danger of disease transmission, anaphylaxis or neoplasia.

Excessive Sweating Treatment (30 mins)
Focal hyperhidrosis is the more common type involving excessive sweating on the feet, hands and, in about 30 - 40% of cases, the armpits. The face may also be affected, but less often. Even less common is gustatory hyperhidrosis, when sweating on the face is triggered by hot or spicy food. Neurotoxin Injection Treatment is recommended for the treatment of focal hyperhidrosis affecting the armpits (axillary hyperhidrosis) when other treatments have not worked. 2. Generalised hyperhidrosis affects the whole body. It is much less common and is usually caused by another illness such as an infection, diabetes or when the thyroid gland is overactive. The excessive sweating usually stops when the illness is treated.

Facial Thread Veins Treatment (30 mins)

Thread veins or

telangiectasias

are small, superficial, red, purple or blue veins which can appear anywhere on the body but most frequently on the face. They can be 1- 3mm in diameter and occur when the vein dilates to become large enough to be visible through the skin. Thus, they are generally more of a problem for fairer skin types. They are often classified according to their appearance as linear, branching or spider telangiectasia. Medically they are not serious but cosmetically they can be distressing to many of us.

We normally use multi-wave length IPL in higher energy pulses to reduce facial thread veins.

Lip Augmentation (30 mins)

The lips can also be made fuller with lip augmentation by injecting dermal fillers into the lips at the same surgical session. The overall effect of the lip lift is a more aesthetically pleasing mouth with a youthful appearance.

Mole Removal

Moles are very common. They may be flat or elevated. Sometimes they grow hairs. The most important feature however is pigmentation – a brown discolouration of the overlying skin.

When should you be suspicious of a mole?
  1. Recent appearance of pigmentation
  2. Pigmentation that becomes darker
  3. Itching or irritation
  4. Bleeding
  5. Growth in size especially a growth spurt
  6. A mole which was once flat becoming raised.

If you are concerned about the above or any other changes you should consult with Ailesbury. Histology done at St. Vincents University Hospital.

  • The majority of skin lesions can be treated in a relatively simple manner. This entails surgical excision under local anaesthesia. Therefore the assessment and excision can frequently be performed at the initial consultation. If a skin cancer is suspected a diagnostic biopsy may have to be performed at the initial consultation. The treatment is completed as soon as the report is available.
  • If the lesion has a completely benign appearance there is no need to request laboratory analysis.
  • Therefore apart from skin cancers the treatment can frequently be completed on a single visit.

Guaranteed for 5 years.Contour Threads are made from clear polypropylene, a material that has been used inside the human body as a suture material for decades. Contour Threads? are designed with patented dimensional barbs, or cogs, that attach to the subdermal tissue, lifting, suspending and fixating contour of the brow, midface and neck areas. By gently shifting sagging tissues in an upward direction, this technique allows the surgeon to produce a relaxed, fresh appearance while preserving and enhancing the natural contours of your face. This procedure does not replace a conventional facelift; rather it offers patients an innovative, minimally invasive approach.

    Acne Scars Treatment

After an acne lesion has healed, it can leave a red or hyperpigmented mark on the skin. This is actually not a scar, but rather a post-inflammatory change. The redness or hyperpigmentation is seen as the skin goes through its healing and remodeling process, which takes approximately 6-12 months. If no more acne lesions develop in that area, the skin can heal normally. Any color change or skin defect still present after 1 year is considered to be a permanent defect or scar. Ailesbury uses microneedling, dermaaroller for mild to moderate acne scarring and C02 laser resurfacing for more established scars.

    Age Spots Removal

Age spots develop due to a variety of reasons, including years of unprotected exposure to the sun. While these marks are usually considered harmless, its important to ensure theyre not masquerading as a potentially harmful condition known as

, or a cancerous growth such as lentigo maligna

.Your skin can be evaluated by an Ailesbury dermatologist who is trained and skilled in the diagnosis and management of skin conditions. Once you have confirmation that the age spots are truly benign we use differing techniques such as cryotherapy, chemical peels, CO2 or Erbium YAG pigment-removing lasers and IPL (intense pulsed light)

    Keratosis Pilaris Treatment

Keratosis pilaris (KP) is a genetic disorder of keratinization of hair follicles of the skin. It is an extremely common benign condition that manifests as small, rough folliculocentric keratotic papules, often described as chicken bumps, chicken skin, or goose bumps, in characteristic areas of the body, particularly the outer-upper arms and thighs. Although no clear etiology has been defined, keratosis pilaris is often described in association with other dry skin conditions such as ichthyosis vulgaris, xerosis, and, less commonly, with atopic dermatitis, including conditions of asthma and allergies. •Keratosis pilaris may be treated with topical immunomodulators . Although these products are approved for atopic dermatitis and eczema, their use would be considered off label for keratosis pilaris. These may be used in more resistant cases or when the patient has considerable skin redness or inflammation. •Photodynamic therapy (PDT) using a 2-step combination of a topical photosensitizer and a light source may be used in off-label fashion for the temporary treatment of keratosis pilaris. Available photosensitizers include aminolevulinic acid or methyl levulinate. Light sources include sunlight, blue light (417 nm), red light (630 nm), and multiple laser devices. PDT has been anecdotally reported as effective, but this successful use of off-label photodynamic therapy requires confirmation. •Laser hair removal (LHR) has been used in keratosis pilaris to decrease hair growth in affected areas. Theoretically, LHR may help decrease the portion of bumps in keratosis pilaris caused by small, coiled, ingrown hairs. There are no studies showing a cure of keratosis pilaris with LHR. •Laser therapies including more aggressive resurfacing lasers, carbon dioxide, fractional lasers, and other aggressive laser therapies have been used in limited cases for keratosis pilaris. There are no studies showing a cu

It occurs most often in fair skinned people, particularly those who blush easily. Women are more commonly affected, but men are usually more severely affected. Skin Tag Removal

Skin tags are common, acquired, benign skin growths that look like a small piece of soft, hanging skin. Skin tags are harmless growths. Some individuals may be more prone to tags (greater than 50-100 tags) either through increased weight, in part combined with heredity, or other unknown causes. Males and females are equally prone to developing skin tags. Obesity and being moderately overweight (even temporary increases in weight) dramatically increase the chances of having skin tags. Women of normal weight with larger breasts are also more prone to developing skin tags under their breasts. Some small tags spontaneously rub or fall off painlessly and the person may not even know they had a skin tag. Most tags do not fall off on their own and persist once formed. The medical name for skin tag is acrochordon.

    Wart Removal

Warts are a result of the most common viral infection of the skin. Plantar warts grow on the plantar surface, or the sole, of the foot. They can be found anywhere in this area but tend to produce symptoms in areas of pressure and friction. Ailesbury uses liquid nitrogen, radiosurgery or CO2 laser in the treatment of  verrucaes. Warts can spread directly from person to person, but this isnt common. You are more likely to pick up the virus that causes warts in shared washing areas and showers like those you find in swimming pools or gyms. This is much more likely if you have small cuts on your feet.[

    Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment

The CO2 laser is a carbon dioxide . Its effects are similar to those of  and , except that the laser removes skin layers by vaporization rather than with chemicals or a sanding device.

An Ailesbury dermatologist specifies the amount of energy transmitted to the skins surface by the laser beam and control the depth of penetration. The fractionalised CO2 laser system can be "ultra pulsed" for facial resurfacing. When the CO2 laser is delivering powerful, rapid pulses, your doctor is able to resurface the skin for cosmetic improvement.

    IPL Skin Rejuvenation
PhotoRejuvenation is a cosmetic treatment designed to produce younger and healthier looking skin. In Ailesbury Clinic, we have a choice of photorejuvenation lasers. 1. PhotoFacial technique is delivered by the Quantum IPL. 2. FotoFacial RF procedure is delivered by the Aurora IPL. The Quantum uses broadspectrum light to target defects within the skin while the Aurora device uses this and radiofrequency. This method, which marries all benefits of intense pulsed light and optical energy is called ELOS (Electrical Optical Synergy). This is used for the treatment of vascular and pigmented discolorations with the wrinkle and tightening benefits of RF. PhotoRejuvenation is the only procedure that can treat vascular redness, rosacea, open pores, pigmented brown spots, sun damage, skin texture, and collagen structure all at once.

ActiveFX is the latest advance worldwide in the treatment of aging skin. In essence; it is possibly the most advanced fractional laser procedure presently available in the world today and it can be performed in a single treatment with minimal patient downtime of about 4 to 5 days. Patients should understand this is a real ablative CO2 laser (totally different to other heavily marketed and much less efficient devices such as the desquamative type lasers which, require multiple treatments to achieve a much less favourable result). During fractional treatment, only a portion of the skins surface is treated by the laser, leaving small "bridges" of untouched skin. This technique makes the healing process much quicker and enables patients to get back to their normal life styles sooner. It is also less painful than other skin tightening RF devices . Other major benefits include the ability to use it under eyes to remove lines that Treatment for lines and wrinkles cannot to used to treat.

    Laser Hair Removal
PPx therapy is the first FDA approved painless treatment for skin rejuvenation, permanent hair reduction and acne treatment. It also requires no pre-treatment anaesthetics or gels. The treatment device uses a combination of broadband IPL light and pneumatic energy (vacuum) delivered through a hand-piece. The treatment is unique in that a vacuum momentarily draws the skin into the treatment hand-piece, so targets such as hair follicles are drawn closer to the skins surface. A light is gently pulsed onto the skin, destroying the unwanted hair, quickly and painlessly. There are several key differences between PPx and other laser treatments. Firstly, it is the first painless treatment for light based hair reduction. Secondly, hair removal on large areas such as the back or whole legs can be completed in less than 20 minutes as opposed to up to 2 hours with other laser and light based hair reduction treatments. Thirdly, it does not require any topical anaesthesia or numbing gels.
