Biography:
Graduated from the University of Sheffield in 1981 and spent five years as a junior surgeon in the RAF at Cranwell and within RAF Germany. After leaving the Air Force, Dr Wellings gained experience in private practice in Germany where he trained in German dental technology. This interest led to an invitation to join a training programme in the developing field of dental implantology at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, USA, in 1988-1989. During that time Dr Wellings was introduced to O. Hilt Tatum Jnr, one of the most highly respected pioneers in the field, who then mentored him in his development at the Edward White Memorial Hospital Complex, St Petersburg, Florida during periods over the next four years. Dr Wellings now supports Dr Tatum as a clinical tutor at the Tatum Institute in Birmingham, England. In 1994 Barkhill Clinic became a full time private practice when Dr Wellings returned from Germany. With 20 years of clinical experience in this field, Dr Wellings prides himself on being able predictably to restore those patients who have poor function or extreme dental needs back to total health, function and aesthetics
