What are fillings?

Fillings or dental fillings are used to repair the damaged surfaces of teeth. The surface of teeth may be damaged by small fractures, damaged enamel or decay. It takes 25 to 90 minutes to place a filling in a tooth.

Is getting a filling painful?

Patients may experience pain or sensitivity for a few weeks after a filling is placed. The area where the anaesthetic was injected will feel sore for a few days. The gums of the patient will also feel sore for a few days.

How do I care for my teeth after fillings are placed?

Patients should not eat for at least three hours till the anaesthesia wears off. They should not eat or drink anything that is too hot or too cold for a few days. They should avoid very hard food. They should take all prescribed medications correctly. They should follow correct dental hygiene and brush and floss their teeth regularly.

I reconnected with Fariba Younes after she stopped working in Solihull. I have found her treatment towards patients both caring and professional, always ensuring her work is of the highest quality. Because I am elderly, 80+, and diabetic, it is important to me to keep as many of my own teeth as possible, and Fariba sympathises with that philosophy. Fariba recently built up a broken tooth so as to stabilise a small denture which had lost its anchor. The embarrassment of a loose denture cannot be overstressed and this has been remedied by her expertise and dedication. A price worth paying? When faced with such a problem the cost of treatment is well worth it. After all, expertise like hers should be rewarded. I will recommend Fariba to anyone who asks me for an excellent dental surgeon for treatment from scale and polish to implants. She is the best dentist I have had in 80 years!

I have just completed a fairly lengthy treatment which included Invisalign to straighten my front teeth, implants to replace very old crowns and damaged molars and teeth whitening to improve the appearance of my smile. Our aim is to support you on a life time journey of healthy teeth and gums. My name is Liam Esposito and my wife Kate and I have owned the practice since December 2013. We would like to share with you our interesting journey as to how we became owners of such a fantastic practice. There has been a dental practice at 251 Jockey Road since 1956. In 1985 David and Deborah Hughes took over the practice and ran it together for 28 years. Both Kate and I without knowing one another were patients of David and Deborah from our early teens. After many years of asking David how to become a Dentist I eventually opted to become a Dentist and qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2006. I met my wife Kate in 2007 whilst snowboarding in the Alps and we eventually married in 2012. It was somewhat amusing when we realised our families shared the same Dentist. Having got to know David and Deborah over many years, we were extremely proud to have been asked to take over the running of Boldmere Dental Practice. We are now privileged to be part of such a fantastic team and our aim is to assist our patients on a journey of dental health and happiness.
