As one of Scotland’s leading cosmetic dentists based in Edinburgh, John has worked hard to create the warm, relaxed atmosphere that you will enjoy at Marchmont Dental Care. John gained his Batchelor of Dental Surgery from The Queen’s University Belfast back in 1983 and has honed his skills over the years, being awarded his Diploma in General Dental Practice form the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1993. He is passionate about maintaining standards and quality in dentistry and sits on the Lothian Committee for Quality in Dentistry and has a part-time post as a Dental Practice Inspector with Lothian NHS Trust. He is currently the Chairman of Lothian Independent Dental Practitioners.

Outside the surgery sport plays a big part in his life and if he is not playing squash for Mamma’s Pizzeria squash team or golf with the Irish Golf Society of Scotland, he can be found watching one of his five children taking part in various sports. ’With work and family life I do not get too much free time but I do enjoy settling down with a good book at the end of the day.’ A big rugby fan, John was privileged to be in Cardiff’s Millennium stadium to see Ireland win their first Grand Slam for 61 years.

Meet Kathryn. She graduated from the University of Dundee Dental School in 2002 and worked as a locum for a couple of years before joining Marchmont Dental Care in 2005. Although providing her patients with a high standard of care is all part of her job as a dentist, the part she enjoys most is meeting her patients, putting them at their ease and being able to help them. “I like to feel that I can make a difference”, she says. Outside of work Kathryn’s great passion is travel. It doesn’t matter if it’s long haul or short haul, even if it’s just for a long weekend.
