About Duthie, Wyatt, Duthie at The Oral Health Practice

The clinic provides state-of-the-art-dentistry. The facility has 3 full-time dentists and 3 part-time dental hygienists providing their services. The quality of the materials used for ceramic reconstruction translate into natural looking crowns and inlays. They also believe that children respond better to female doctors, and have a female dental surgeon. The services provided include tooth whitening (night whitening / deep bleaching), dentures, surgical treatments (extraction, surgical removal), filings, crowns, bridges, root canal, oral health assessment and consultations with a hygienist.

Dr John Duthie

Biography:

John Duthie qualified from Liverpool University in 1974 and worked in general practice in the region for 3 years before establishing this practice in 1977. The practice has been slowly expanded, firstly in the NHS and since 1995 privately to the point where we now have 3 full time dental surgeons, 5 part-time hygienists and 9 nursing and reception team staff.

During this time, John has worked in the academic field as a lecturer at Liverpool Dental Hospital,
part of the NHS specialist restorative department and has been an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons examining both in the UK and Hong Kong.
These commitments have taken him away from the practice on a part-time basis but over recent years he has been back at the practice full-time providing advanced restorative treatment including ceramic reconstruction and implants.

He is a certified International Trainer in Ceramic Reconstruction and this takes him to other practices and hospitals such as Kings, Guys and St Thomas Hospitals in London to train other clinicians. From time to time dentists will attend the practice for hands-on, in-house training. This contact with other clinicians keeps the practice at the forefront of new techniques and developments in dentistry. It benefits the whole practice team and the patients.

Michael Wyatt qualified in 1974 from Liverpool Dental Hospital. He has worked in the Community Dental Service providing treatment for children and patients with special needs. He has been a clinical assistant in Orthodontics at Whiston Hospital.

Dr Marie-Louise Duthie

Dr Marie-Louise Duthie  BDS Ncl.  is now working with John to provide continuity of routine care and is developing the expertise to maintain and expand the advanced restorative side. 

Marie-Louise was part of a team of 25 clinicians headed by Prof. Ramon Bedi developing protocols to improve child dental health. We are pleased that the practice was chosen to take part in this project and it is already proving a benefit to our patients.

The practice is a truly family practice and can provide long term service to your whole family into the future.


Marie-Louise has recently passed her Royal College of Surgeons examination in General Dental Surgery. She is to complete the final portfolio of clinical work shortly.  She has a special interest in Cosmetic Dentistry and provides the professional tooth whitening which compliments the ceramic reconstructions and veneer work done by John.

She has also completed separate professional training in Facial Aesthetics. This is totally separate to any dental qualification and enables her to offer the use of Botulinum Toxin and facial fillers. These can be used in the traditional therapeutic cases but there is a demand for the more ‘cosmetic uses’ and these now take up quite a lot of the time.
