History: This is the modern method of permanently replacing missing teeth. It all started in 1952, when Professor Branemark of Lund, Sweden  found that titanium screws used in the bones of rabbits could not be removed after they healed. A dental implant is made of pure titanium or titanium alloy, and has almost the same the shape and form of a root. It is inserted into the bone where the tooth (or teeth) are missing .It is a bio-compatible to the bone and integrates fully within the bone , creating an extremely strong bond.
