Pontcanna Dental Care

Charlie, originally from Cardiff, now lives locally with his young family. After qualifying he joined an exclusive West End practice refining the smiles of media personalities and helping clients have their own healthy teeth for life. Responding to an increase in national demand for personal private dentistry he relocated to Cheltenham. Here he focused on helping clients achieve healthy mouths providing cosmetic dentistry, care for dental phobics and client focused dentistry.  This was reflected being awarded the national title of Dentist of the Year in 2001 and being runner up in the BT and Daily Telegraph customer service awards. He is passionate about listening to and providing for customers individual needs. Also loves rugby, good wine and food.

Alyn was born and brought up in Cardiff and after qualifying returned to work near home. He has worked at the practice since 1988, first as an associate and now as a partner at Pontcanna Dental Care. He has spent that time developing long term relationships with his patients so that the care provided can be of he highest standard and ensuring that the teeth for life message of pontcanna dental care continues.  His spare time is occupied by being Chairman of Glamorgan Wanderers RFC and he enjoys safaris to Africa where he has developed a passion for photography.

After working at Cardiff Dental Hospital for 8 years,I started working at Pontcanna Dental Care in 2010 as it allows me to performmy role of Dental Hygienist to the full, and to provide excellent care in awarm and friendly environment with the support of an excellent team.  I am very family orientated and am happilymarried with two small children.

I joined Pontcanna Dental Care in January 2012 after spending 8 years working at Media Wales (formerly Western Mail & Echo Ltd) in the Marketing department where I worked most recently as a Marketing Manager.  My background is in Business and Statistics where I achieved BA (Hons) degree in Business Decision Analysis.  I am also CIM qualified and am currently working towards a Digital Marketing diploma.  Outside of work, I play rugby in Division 2 West of the SWALEC Leagues (so I work in the right industry if I ever get my teeth knocked out!).  I have a young daughter and am getting married this Summer.

I’ve worked at Pontcanna Dental Care since thebeginning.  Originally trained as aDental Nurse with David Watson-James, I then went on to become a Receptionist,Administrator and finally Practice Manager. I take great pleasure in interacting with the patients – many of whomI’ve known for a number of years.  I havea number of keen interests including sewing, reading, gardening and watching mygrandson play rugby and football.  I’minterested in most sports and love to travel.

I started at Pontcanna Dental Care in February 2009 asa Receptionist, so I’m the cheery face you see when you come into thePractice!  I’ve previously held roleswith Abbey National and Algebra Ltd.  Ilove cooking, walking and gardening but I hate football!  

After working at Somerfield as a Supervisor, I decidedto become a dental nurse and achieved my NVQ Level 2 in Dental Nursing andstarted at Pontcanna Dental Care in March 2007. I enjoy working here as I get to meet new people and have a role inlife-changing dental treatment.  I’mcurrently expecting my first child!  Ilove horse riding, spending time with my family, reading (on my boyfriend’sKindle!) and walking our dogs.  I’m alsoa Welsh speaker.

I come to work for a break from my two teenageboys!  Although I only started atPontcanna Dental Care in September 2011, I have over 30 years experience in thedental industry behind me including working as a Practice Manager.  I love working in dentistry and enjoy therelaxed and friendly atmosphere at Pontcanna Dental.  I spend my spare time walking around theGower and places of historical interest (especially old pubs!).

After spending four and a half years working at othersurgeries around the city, I began working at Pontcanna Dental Care in April2011, and have found the team great to work with.  I have a black belt in Taekwondo and havebeen involved with the Welsh squad.  Iwon a bronze medal at the World Championships when I was 17.  I keep fit by going to the gym and am a Welshspeaker.
