How are braces installed on teeth?

For fixed braces, the orthodontist dries the teeth and places glue or bonding cement on the braces. The braces are placed on teeth and a UV light is shone on them to cure the glue or cement. For removable braces, an impression of the teeth is taken and a technician makes the removable brace consisting of a plastic plate and wires. The brace is then fitted on teeth.

Braces exert a steady pressure on teeth. The pressure is periodically adjusted as needed by the orthodontist. Eventually the pressure exerted by braces corrects the alignment of teeth.

Do braces hurt?

Braces are uncomfortable when first placed on teeth. Patients experience soreness and need to get used to the pressure exerted on the teeth by braces. Patients normally get used to braces within a month.

I found Vivek a very professional and friendly dentist. He was new to the practice. I was a very apprehensive patient. I was very nervous. I have not been to a dentist in 40 years. All my teeth had to be removed from the hospital and I went to Vivek for dentures. That treatment is now coming to a close and I intend taking my special needs son to him. I drive a fair way to come and yesterday saw Jenny for a hygienist appointment and it was really worth the trip. She is friendly, professional, hard-working and conscientious also. My teeth look so much better after she does her magic, she is a different level to any previous ones I have had bar none. The clinic is lovely and modern and friendly reception staff also. Really for me, this is a gem and I work in marketing consultancy and training customer service and really happy I was recommended here by my brother. Give Jenny a go and you will not be disappointed and I would say you will see as I said here a real difference. Highly and sincerely recommended.
