"Had a lot of work done-9 existing front crowns replaced, after 3 root canal fillings/post insertions, 1 root extraction. IN TOTAL 14 crowns-upper mouth and 8 lower jaw, whole mouth deep clean, new mouthguard made, temporary crowns (these were excelent too). The dental work was carried out in one day-with new crown fitting 4 days later. Cannot praise the dentist, Dr Yavus too highly-he was excellent and, apart from the root extraction, the treatment was painfree. I think I felt the extraction more psychologically than physically -as there was no stinting on the anaesthesia. The treatment was a mere fraction of the price I would have paid in the UK. I was quoted over £500 for 1 root canal treatment from a private dentist locally in UK with 360 x-rays etc all to be charged as extras plus an initial consultation fee.- Any complications etc were to be charged for too.......! The price for the same work in Antalya was £49 in Antalya with x-rays included and no extra consultation fee-plus a 10% discount was available forr cash payment. The scheduled flight with Turkish Airlines was £124 and the horel was £22 per night b&b. Thus it made more economic sense to go to Turkey for just one root canal treatment-even taking into account the cost of flight and accommodation.
All the dental work was carried out with great skill and is guaranteed. At no time was any treatment rushed and everything was explained to me fully before any treatment began. All staff spoke English but Yasin, the Clinic Administrator, whose English was faultless, provided full explanations where needed-and reviewed the treatment throughout. He was very helpful, kind and with a great sense of humour.
If you need any dental treatment at all -don't hesitate, this clinic is superb. I intend to get my lower jaw back teeth crowned there later this year.
The website for this clinic is great, with all treatments/prices clearly explained. What really nailed it for me was the swift and personal response of the English administration manager, Graham, who not only provided detailed email quotes but also called me and discussed the options available. He organised the hotel, transport to and from Antalya airport and liaised with me throughout my stay via WhatsApp. It was very reassuring to know I could call on him at any time He kept in touch throughout my stay.
The Clinic itself is impressive, a modern 3 storey building and its organisation is faultless. Taxis (free) arrived on the dot to take me to the clinic and were waiting to return me to my hotel. The Clinic is on three floors. Everything was spotless-overshoe cover provided-and all personnel immaculately dressed and very professional but with typical Turkish charm. Every surgery room was spacious, equipped with the most modern kit, and of course, air conditioned. I was greeted on arrival by Yasin, the Clinic Administrator and made welcome. Preparatory work, 360 xrays etc was immediately begun and Yasin accompanied me throughout, explaining as necessary. The waiting area is very comfortable with TV, water cooler etc and tastefully decorated. However, there was little waiting to do-the consultation began on arrival and the course of treatment discussed with me, agreed and signed. Thesigned contract shows all treatnents/costs No extras are added-in my case, I needed three extra root canal treatments subsequent to signing the contract, but no extra charge was made. I did ask in case I needed to withdraw extra cash.
I stayed at the Ozkavak Hotel in the old conservation area, Kaleici, in Antalya (there are buildings from the time of the Romans Emperor, Hadrian, only a few yards away). This is a delightful hotel, comprising 2 Ottoman houses with a small swimming pool, pretty courtyard gardens and, joy of joys, a beautiful golden Cocker spaniel puppy called Caramel (that is probably not the correct spelling) and very sweet cat-both of whom joined me in the garden for breakfast (and vied with each other for titbits)! The hotel was arranged via The Dental Centre/Graham and it was simply lovely. The staff were charming, very kind, and were waiting for me on my return from the clinic to make sure all was well. They couldn't have been kinder. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful-and it was wonderful to sit outside in the garden to eat at the end of November-in hot sunshine.
Kaleici itself abounds with cafes/restaurants and has little traffic-as entry is restricted and the streets designed for pedestrians-marble tiled and narrow-the daily electric dustcarts play the Four Seasons to warn you of their approach. It is a great base from which to explore Antalya-but bring comfortable shoes-it's hilly. I only wish I had been able to spend longer here as there was so much to see and do. Next time.....Aspendos and Perge wil be on my to-do ist"
