Dental Crowns

Restore your smile.

Dental crowns restore chipped or worn teeth to their original shape. Fitted over the existing tooth, they strengthen and protect as well as improving your smile.

A number of options are available to choose from, with porcelain or ceramic crowns being the most common. Your dentist has to prepare the tooth prior to fitting a new crown and depending on your choice of material you may need a temporary crown before the final crown is fitted.

Modern brand-name manufacturing processes like CERAC or Procera can reduce the time spent at the dentist to just 1 or 2 visits.

  • I found it very expensive for the minimal service provided. The dentist merely looked briefly at my child's teeth and told me that there was decay, but it was not necessary for her to do anything as these were not permanent teeth.Dawn, Singapore, 09 May 13
  • Very good explanation, kind doctor and staff. And the place is tastefully renovated.Pang, Singapore, 07 Feb 13

Dental Crowns: Dental crowns protect damaged, cracked and worn teeth. A dental crown is a tooth shaped cap constructed from porcelain that is bonded over a tooth covering it to improve its appearance and to restore its shape, size and strength. Porcelain crowns or dental crowns protect the entire surface from any further decay, damage or erosion. They also improve the aesthetics of your teeth. When teeth need strengthening dental crowns may be the treatment for you. When a dental crown may be needed? After root canal treatment or a dental crown maybe fitted. The dental crown is often needed to protect the tooth or teeth after these treatments.Significant decay has damaged the tooth and not enough tooth is left. Dental crowns are best at protecting teeth. If a tooth is badly damaged the dental crown is a great choice to restore the tooth.Like above if the tooth is badly worn from erosion or grinding then a dental crown may be the only option to preserve and restore the existing tooth..For cosmetic reasons porcelain crowns can enhance the appearance of you teeth. What are dental crowns made from? Dental crowns are usually made of: Metal alloy bonded to porcelain. Sometimes after a period of time dental crowns made from metal and porcelain / ceramic may cause dark lines in the gums. This may appear unattractive.Gold crowns. Not often used today but are very long lasting and good where there is very little room in the bite on back teeth.Porcelain crowns. For a natural appearance porcelain crowns or ceramic crowns give the best results.Dental crowns require the same level of care and attention as your natural teeth. Providing you maintain a good oral hygiene program, good diet and attend regular dental

Dental Crowns: At DP Dental, there is the option of lab-based or single-visit CEREC crowns, subject to suitability. There are many different materials that is used to make a crown, the most common option being a PFM (Porcelain-fused-with-metal) crown. This option is often recommended for teeth in the posterior as they combine the strength of the metal and the aesthetics of the porcelain. For teeth in the anterior region, a full porcelain crown is often recommended.  (Note that price quoted do not include material fees.)
  • Had asked if they did CEREC or CAD crowns and the cost. The reply was about normal crowns giving duration and approx. cost but nothing about the CEREC cost. Could not be bothered replying back as there seem to be "reluctance/hestitancy..." to reply in a simple answer. Peter, Singapore, 20 Apr 13

Review I brought my almost 5 year old, who is very prone to cavities since 2, to this clinic for a emergency filling. The dentist (Dr. Chua) was very patient and knew how to deal with kids at this age. He told my kid exactly what to expect (even communicated in Chinese) prior to any procedures. The procedure was done within 15-20minutes with great cooperation from my kid. Dr. Chua then spent the next 20 minutes providing explanation and education about the factors promoting cavities and formulating an action plan we could take to prevent it. Although the clinic is very basic and clean, and not equipped to be child friendly.. no toys for kids or LCD screen to watch movies during treatment, the care taken by Dr. Chua compensated for all the frills needed to distract kids. Nevertheless, the dental assistant did give my kid a sticker for braving out the procedure. It was a positive experience for my kid.Annabel, Singapore, 07 Apr 10
