After the canal has been filled you may need a Crown to protect the tooth from any more damage.

 

While many root canals may be performed by your normal dentist, some may require a specialist Endodontist - Your back teeth are often the hardest to perform a root canal on.

 

The treatment should be complete in 2 or 3 visits to the dentist.

At the first appointment, the infected pulp is removed. Any abscesses, which may be present, can also be drained at this time. The root canal is then cleaned and shaped ready for the filling. A temporary filling is put in and the tooth is left to settle. The tooth is checked at a later visit and when all the infection has cleared, the tooth is permanently filled.

I had 8 crowns fitted by Marty and am very happy with the result. The price was more expensive than some NI dentists, but still cheaper than most SI dentists, however the work is of a very high quality, Marty is somewhat of a perfectionist, a quality you would want in a dentist. The staff are very friendly. I've since recommended this dental practice to some of my colleagues.

    very happy with the results. after the first appointment the throbbing pain stopped straight away. happy with the price of the treatment, also got 2 filings included in this price! would get follow-up appointed sooner than the 5 weeks i waited as my tooth enamel became weak & chipped twice.
