Dental Crowns

Restore your smile.

Dental crowns restore chipped or worn teeth to their original shape. Fitted over the existing tooth, they strengthen and protect as well as improving your smile.

A number of options are available to choose from, with porcelain or ceramic crowns being the most common. Your dentist has to prepare the tooth prior to fitting a new crown and depending on your choice of material you may need a temporary crown before the final crown is fitted.

Modern brand-name manufacturing processes like CERAC or Procera can reduce the time spent at the dentist to just 1 or 2 visits.

116 Upper Lisburn Rd, Belfast Review by Aidan - Were you pleased with the treatment?
We live in County Wexford in the Republic and both my wife and I required substantial repair and reconstruction treatment. In particular my wife wanted to get rid of a denture she had required for over 30 years while I have suffered with a lifelong phobia that prevented me getting any kind of dental work done for over 30 years. In the Republic every dental surgery we visited wanted over €15,000 for our treatments and the whole attitude we encountered was clinical, cold and unfriendly and all about the money. Research led us to Dr Ian Crutchly's practice on the Lisburn Road in Belfast which is quite a journey from Wexford. After an initial visit which was very relaxed and friendly, Ian proposed a treatment plan for each of us which we were very comfortable with and was very much more affordable. I should point out that Dr Crutchley doesn't do cheap or bargain basement but compared to the Republic his prices are vastly more realistic. Our treatments were such that we had to visit Belfast on three occasions and we made a shopping trip out of each one. Every time we arrived Dr Crutchley and his entire staff made us feel very much at ease at each visit. On one such visit we stayed overnight at a local hotel and my wife had a small problem the next morning. We contacted the surgery to discover it was Dr Crutchley's day off but while we were on the line Jan, his receptionist, rang him and he said to come to the clinic and he would go straight there to see my wife. All our friends and family have commented on the high quality of the work we had done and we would highly recommend anybody looking for the highest standards in dental care to contact Dr Crutchley. While our main treatments are now completed we are looking forward to visiting Ian and his staff in the New Year.

I would be happy to recommend this clinic
Would you return for further treatment?
I will return for major treatment, but not for routine treatment, as I am travelling from Cork and it would not make economic sense to make the journey for, say, a checkup.

165, Cavehill Road, Belfast Dental Crowns: CROWNS may be used to repair broken or decayed teeth, to strengthen teeth or again to improve the cosmetic appearance of a tooth. They differ from veneers in that they encase the whole part of the tooth that is above the gum. The porcelain finish of the veneer or crown can be matched to your own natural tooth shading, or if you choose to restore all of your teeth then you can decide to have a lighter, brighter shade all over.
Review by KristinaWere you pleased with the treatment?
Was only quoted cheapest price for 2 crowns over the phone, however given more expensive options before treatment.
    Would you recommend the clinic?
Staff was very friendly and explained treatment and different options very well.
Would you return for further treatment?
the only reason I would not return is that is a 2 hour drive away from where I live, otherwise a definite yes.

148 Moss Road, Lisburn Dental Crowns: Dental Crowns are a type of dental restoration which, when cemented into place, entirely covers or "caps" over the portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line. Since dental crowns encase the entire visible aspect of a tooth, a dental crown in effect becomes the tooths new outer surface. Crowns can be made out of porcelain (meaning some sort of dental ceramic), metal (a gold or other metal alloy), or a combination of both. Dental crowns are routinely made for teeth that have broken, worn excessively, or else have had large portions destroyed by tooth decay.
