Dentist Consultation: A lot of our patients travel from the south, so we try to make things easier for them by providing a short, 40 minute, consultation which we can then add up to an hour to so that we can provide initial treatment as well. In extensive cases where the patient needs more info before we start, an hour long initial consultation costs £185, of which we credit you back £85 against your first course of treatment. This price is inclusive of all X-Rays, study casts, gum health check, oral cancer screening and TMJ check

About Crutchley Dental Surgery

Dr. Ian Crutchley offers a comprehensive service to all his patients in a relaxed friendly enviroment. By being able to treat patients using a multi-discipline approach we can tailor-make your dental treatment. For example using orthodontics, spaces can be opened for implants, teeth can be moved to better positions, & any resultant treatment is therefore more stable and comfortable. Put simply - if you visit a crown & bridge specialist, you're a crown & bridge case. If you go to an implant specialist, you're an implant case. We prefer to take a whole mouth approach, taking the best bits of all treatments that are going to get you the best results, & letting the patient be guided by information. Treatment is only provided with your full understanding of our proposals, and we explain things in plain English. Common sense and information are hard to beat! One of Ian's particular interests is the provision of an orthopaedic approach to his orthodontic treatment, trying where possible to avoid extracting healthy teeth, and instead developing the jaws to accomodate the teeth nature intended. He has a particular interest in treating Skeletal Class 3 cases without the need for surgery, and has had many successful instances of this type of treatment. So if you have been told surgery is your only option, that may not be the case, and the younger this type of treatment is started, the better the outcome.

Biography:

Ian qualified from Queens University Belfast in 1987. He gained his MFGDP from the Royal College of surgeons in 1996, and his final diploma, his DRDP from the University of London in 2007. He has a keen interest in orthodontics, with a particular emphasis on a more orthopaedic approach to this discipline. This frequently means he will be less inclined to remove premolar teeth to make space. Among his other interests are Root Canal work and Dental Implants. Ian also offers sedation for dentally phobic patients. Ian has recently started providing fixed appliance therapy with the DAMON system which he has found to be much more patient-friendly than other systems. "Extract for the face, not for the space" is his basic philosophy, as by using DAMON Q brackets it is extremely rare he has to extract healthy teeth to make space as traditional orthodontics tends to do.

Biography:
Natalie is our newest member of staff, having joined the practice in 2011. Natalie has 15 years of experience working as a dental surgery assistant, and is fully qualified since 2002. Natalie helps Dr. Crutchley with all aspects of work in the surgery, and also is in charge of stock control,for the practice. Natalie passed her National Certificate in Dental Nursing in 2002, a Certificate in Oral Health Education in 2004, and has taken the course in Conscious Sedation which is extremely important when Dr. Crutchley is sedating our more nervous patients.
