Dental Bridge

A dental bridge is an effective, affordable way to replace missing teeth. Bridgework is a good alternative to the more expensive dental implant, especially if several teeth are missing in a row. Unlike crowns, a bridge is attached to an adjoining tooth or teeth, instead of an underlying tooth. The process of attaching the bridge to adjacent teeth often involves the fitting of crowns to the teeth supporting the bridge.

 

Sometimes resin and metal bands can be used to secure the bridge instead of the usual crowns: This allows for reduced cost and a quicker procedure.

 

The procedure usually takes a couple of visits with an initial impression being taken of your teeth that is used to create the final bridge.

Dental Bridges: A bridge — a device used to replace missing teeth — attaches artificial teeth to adjacent natural teeth, called abutment teeth. Bridges are either permanently attached (fixed bridges), or they can be removable. Fixed bridges are applied by either placing crowns on the abutment teeth or by bonding the artificial teeth directly to the abutment teeth. Removable bridges are attached to the teeth with metal clasps or by precision attachments.
