"I was blown away"
100%Reviewed 14 Jan 2014 Review verified by phone and email.
Treatment Received: Teeth Cleaning
It had been approximately 12 years since I had previously been to a dentist and my experience in Smiles in Cork city was an absolute pleasure that I felt obligated to post a positive review online.

I went to Smiles as my teeth were bleeding, I had bad gum disease, and overall my mouth was in a state of poor affairs. Booking the appointment was very easy and confirmed via text message, which was very useful. When I arrived I had to fill out a few quick forms. The receptionist was very polite and friendly and I got assigned to Dr Ann. She was a gem of a dentist; very friendly, good conversationalist and very polite when it came to my teeth that were in a bad shape. Told me exactly what she was doing and walked me through everything.

I had extra questions about a jaw disorder as received advice that saved me 350 euro in another private consultation and I can honestly say that I was blown away by the level of service provided to me. I had been extremely nervous before hand and felt completely taken care off, even booked in two more teeth cleaning sessions.

Dental Bridges
Bridges are commonly used to replace one or more missing teeth. Gaps left by missing teeth eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty spaces, resulting in a bad bite. Missing teeth can cause a change in occlusion (bite), shifting of the teeth, temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), speech impediments, an increased risk for periodontal disease and a greater chance of tooth decay.

Dental Crowns
Dental Crowns are a type of dental restoration which, when cemented into place, entirely covers or "caps" over the portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line. Since dental crowns encase the entire visible aspect of a tooth, a dental crown in effect becomes the tooths new outer surface. Crowns can be made out of porcelain (meaning some sort of dental ceramic), metal (a gold or other metal alloy), or a combination of both. Dental crowns are routinely made for teeth that have broken, worn excessively, or else have had large portions destroyed by tooth decay.

Dental Implants
A dental implant is a metal fixture (usually a screw) that is placed into the jaw bone. It acts as a support for a false tooth or a set of false teeth. The fixture fuses with the jaw bone (osseointegration). Implants are made of commercially and medically pure Titanium. This is the same metal that has been successfully used in hip replacements for many years. It is inert and is not known to cause any type of rejection phenomenon.

Teeth Whitening

This is where the Dentist takes impressions of your teeth, and the customized trays are made for you in our lab. At this appointment, the Dentist will apply the first setting of whitening gel.  After this the patient will keep the trays and wear them for an hour a day for between ten to fourteen days. It’s a brilliant system and allows you to judge how white you want your teeth to go.

In dentistry, a veneer is a thin layer of restorative material placed over a tooth surface, either to improve the aesthetics of a tooth, or to protect a damaged tooth surface. Dental veneers are custom-designed shells of tooth-like ceramic material that, when applied over the surface of a tooth, can cover worn tooth enamel, uneven tooth alignment or spacing, and chips or cracks. Worn enamel: Over time, the thin, hard white substance covering your teeth (enamel) may become worn, dulled, and discoloured. Such wear and discoloration may be natural or the result of a genetic predisposition; however, it is often a result of your habits (soft drinks, tea or coffee consumption, smoking, medication use, etc.). Wear and tear: Teeth naturally wear down as people age. Aged teeth are more likely to have chips, cracks or a generally uneven appearance. Crooked or Misaligned teeth: Certain people may be born with abnormal spacing between the teeth that grows wider as they age. Uneven teeth: Uneven teeth can result from tooth grinding or general wear and tear. Regardless of what causes unattractive teeth, dental veneers may solve most or even all of your cosmetic dental issues.
