Benefits of travelling to Egypt

Dentists in Egypt - Qualifications

Egypt has 5 dental universities, 2 situated in Cario, 1 in Alexandria, 1 in Mansoura and 1 in Tanta. Qualification takes 5 years: consisting of one year of pre-dent and 4 years of further dental study. Successful graduates receive a Bachelor Degree in Dental Science (B.D.S). The course is closely aligned with and based on the British dental education system.

There is non-mandatory continuing education for dentists offered by the country's dental universities. Courses range from dental ethics to clinical health and specialties such as implantology.

The Egyptian Dental Association organizes seminars and talks. It also publishes a journal of dental research from Egyptian and regional specialists.

Dentists in Egypt - Additional Information
Organizations

Overall responsibility for dental health is held by the Ministry of Health and Population.

The Egyptian Dental Association (EDA) and the Egyptian Dental Union are the main professional bodies for dentists in Egypt. The EDA was established in 1937, as part of the Medical Association, it became independant in 1955.

The Egyptian Orthodontic Society provides services targeting the orthodontic specialty. It organizes conferences and publishes a journal on the specialty.

Dental Ethics

Both the Egyptian Dental Association and the Egyptian Orthodontic Society may remove a dentist from their association if their conduct has been shown to be unethical. Ethics is studied at undergraduate level and several universities in Egypt offer postgraduate courses for dentists in ethics and a dentist's relationship with the law.

Dental Crowns EGP1500  -  EGP3000
Crowns are restorations that cover teeth that are no longer structurally sound. Root canals, lost fillings, decay below a filling, chipping and cracking of the enamel are things that may lead to large scale defects in a tooths surface. When the entire surface of the tooth is a problem, but the root system is intact, a cap might be appropriate for you. Preparing a tooth for a crown usually requires two visits – at the first visit the tooth is examined for any gross decay which is removed and the tooth is properly restored before it is prepared to receive the crown, if the tooth had already received root canal treatment then this step should have been done before preparing for the crown. After anesthetizing the tooth and gum tissue around the tooth receiving the crown is filed down along the chewing surface and sides to make room for the crown. An impression is taken for the tooth and send to the laboratory to fabricate the cap. The crown is usually ready in three days during which your tooth will be restored with a temporary crown. Receiving the permanent dental crown - at your second visit, your dentist will remove your temporary crown and check the fit and color of the permanent crown. If everything is acceptable, a local anesthetic will be used to numb the tooth and the new crown is permanently cemented in place.
Dental Bridges EGP6000  -  EGP7500
Based on the same idea of crowns, bridges are used to restore a missing tooth when a dental implant cannot be used for any reason. It utilizes the two teeth on either side of the gap (called abutment teeth ) which hold a false tooth in- between. Why should I restore a missing tooth? Teeth help to support our cheeks and lips. When teeth are lost and not replaced the cheeks loose their support and become sunk-in giving an older appearance. Also when a tooth is lost and not replaced the neighboring teeth start to move in place. These results in loss of chewing efficiency and predispose to gum and periodontal problems.

Asnan Dental & Implant Center "Dr. K.Bakeer"

38 Dr. Mahrouky St, Al Agouza, Mohandessin, Giza
Rating from 28 Reviews It feels and looks greatSimon, Cairo, 21 Jun 15

I had root canal surgery. The treatment was completed in 3 three visit over 8 days and was very thorough. The treatment was professional and courteous and I wasn't kept waiting at all. I strongly recommend this clinic and consider the treatment and service as excellent value for money. I now have a new porcelain cap over my old tooth and it feels and looks great. The clinic was easy to find and came recommended to me by several work colleagues. The clinic was clean and the utensils and facilities were modern. Doctor Kareem spoke excellent English and I felt very relaxed and safe throughout my visits. I would strongly recommend this clinic to anybody that needs any dental work.

Sinai Dental Practice

2nd floor Delta Dahab ,El Mashraba st. Masbat, Dahab, 26008
Rating from 5 Reviews Happily smilingNicole, New Zealand, 28 Jan 15

Fabulous in expertise, efficiency and patience from the initial check up to the normally very tricky and energy consuming finish of a root canal treatment in the far end of the upper jaw. A lot of skill was required especially as I was scheduled just prior before my flight back to New Zealand. Me and my tooth made it in time ready for take off. Well done. I have been with Dr. Nasser prior to that for at least a year and have been happily smiling ever since.

Dental Implants EGP12671  -  EGP15595
Implants are used to replace a single missing tooth or multiple missing teeth. It is used when other treatment modalities are not successful or to save the natural tooth structure, instead of teeth reduction to make a bridge. A dental implant is an artificial replacement for the root part of your natural tooth. This is fixed into a pre-drilled socket in your jaw- bone to support bridge, crown or to secure a denture into place.
