Don’t worry.

It might sound bad but in fact a Root Canal is an excellent way to hold onto your teeth with minimal work and long lasting results. If tooth decay has gone too far for a simple filling you may need a root canal to hold onto your tooth. A root canal removes all the infection and then fills the site of the infection so it does not return. After the canal has been filled you may need a Crown to protect the tooth from any more damage.

 

While many root canals may be performed by your normal dentist, some may require a specialist Endodontist - Your back teeth are often the hardest to perform a root canal on.

 

The treatment should be complete in 2 or 3 visits to the dentist.

Review After reading a lot of reviews for dental service I made my choice with Doctor Gadea dental clinic in San Jose. I set appointment with Dr. Gadea in February 2013. Rehabilitation included 11 veneers, 3 porcelain crowns and 2 cups over existing implants. I am very happy with the result I got. My teeth look very natural, I tried to avoid very bright colour of veneers and wanted them to be translucent like natural teeth are. Doctor Gadea did excellent job, I am absolutely happy with my new smile. I got temporary teeth between 2 appointments while I was travelling in CR with my family. During that week I also did not have any concerns, just was careful with dense food.It was hard decision for me, my dentist in Seattle did not recommend to get this treatment in Costa Rica. Of course, I would spend 65% more doing it in my home town! On the other hand I realised that it might be a big risk if the dentist you choose is not good in restorative / cosmetic treatment. I am happy I made right choice, I received great service for very affordable price. Thank you, Doctor Gadea and your staff for excellent job! I got a lot of complements upon my return to US. Root canals: When teeth undergo endodontic treatment, or root canal therapy, they are devitalized when the nerve and blood supply are cut off and the space which they previously filled, known as the "pulp chamber" and "root canal", are thoroughly cleansed and filled with various materials to prevent future invasion by bacteria. Although there may very well be enough tooth structure remaining after root canal therapy is provided for a particular tooth to restore the tooth with an intracoronal restoration, this is not suggested in most teeth. The vitality of a tooth is remarkable in its ability to provide the tooth with the strength and durability it needs to function in mastication. The living tooth structure is surprisingly resilient and can sustain considerable abuse without fracturing. Consequently, after root canal therapy is performed, a tooth becomes extremely brittle and is significantly weaker than its vital neighbors. Should an endodontically treated tooth not be properly protected, there is a chance of it succumbing to breakage from normal functional forces. This fracture may well be difficult to treat, such as a "vertical root fracture". Anterior teeth (i. e. incisors and canines), which are exposed to significantly lower functional forces, may effectively be treated with intracoronal restorations following root canal therapy if there is enough tooth structure remaining after the procedure.
