Bariatric Surgery Consultation

Weight loss surgery is more than the surgery itself. There is an extensive qualification process and life long commitment to the lifestyle changes after the surgery

Gastric Balloon

If you are one of thousands of people who have tried dieting the traditional way without success, then you may need help of a different kind. Successful weight loss programmes should not only help you lose weight but keep it off over time.

The gastric balloon combines a clinically tested and proven medical device without surgery to reduce hunger and effectively manage weight loss.

The gastric balloon may not be suitable for everyone; a consultation with a specialist is required to evaluate each individual requirement.

The gastric balloon is used in conjunction with a managed weight loss programme, including supervised diet and lifestyle modification. The adjustable gastric balloon is indicated for a maximum of 12 months.

Gastric Band

A laparoscopic adjustable gastric band, commonly referred to as a lap band, is an inflatable silicone device that is placed around the top portion of the stomach, via laparoscopic surgery, in order to treat obesity. Adjustable gastric band surgery is an example of bariatric surgery designed for obese patients with a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or greater—or between 35–40 in cases of patients with certain comorbidities that are known to improve with weight loss, such as sleep apnea, diabetes, osteoarthritis, GERD, Hypertension (high blood pressure), or metabolic syndrome, among others.

Air Abrasion
Air abrasion is a relatively new decay removal and tooth preparation tool that we often use in place of the traditional dental drill. This innovative system allows us to conserve more of the patients natural tooth structure and reduce the risk of enamel micro-fracturing. Because the equipment does not produce vibration or heat, patients require little or no anesthetic. Air abrasion is quieter, faster, and more comfortable than traditional drilling.

It can also be used for stain removal

Bad Breath Treatment

No one enjoys talking about it.

But chronic oral malodor affects approximately 50%of the population.

Given this, we can estimate that 140 to 150 million North Americans have this worrisome problem and probably 35 to 40 million of these individuals suffer from a severely strong and unpleasant mouth odor

  • Are you embarrassed by your breath?
  • Do You frequently have a bad taste in your mouth?
  • Do you have thick saliva or dry mouth or on a regular basis and with no improvement?
  • Had someone has commented on your bad breath, or offered you chewing gum or breath mints?
  • Have People stepped back from you when you are talking to them, or do they seem to avoid close contact with you?
  • Is your breath is interfering with your social or professional success?
  • Do you find yourself using spray breath freshener, mouthwashes, chewing gum, or breath mints.

Bone Graft

A dentist uses bone grafting techniques in order to build up the jaw bone area of patients so that they are able to receive dental implants succesfully.  Dental implants provide solutions for missing teeth in a more natural way than all available alternatives.  Modern advancements in technology and dental materials combined with decades of research and numerous trials in clinical settings have led to this miraculous technique for dental restoration.

The bone graft gives the jaw renewed strength, often completely remodelling areas, in order to suppert the dental implant procedure and restore dental health back to its best.

Dentures are removable substitutes for missing teeth. They are usually made from an acrylic base, which is fitted with porcelain artificial teeth. Having missing teeth can make you feel self-conscious about your smile and make eating and speaking difficult. It also has a negative impact on your oral health, so it is vital that they be replaced

Chrome Dentures

Chrome dentures are used in specific cases, when there are large areas of missing teeth. Acrylic dentures are more affordable version. They all bring back your smile and confidence.

The loss of your teeth can have negative effects on your self-confidence, your ability to chew food and your bite. Since your teeth provide structure and support to your cheeks, tooth loss can result in the sagging of your cheeks and make you appear older than you are. It is essential that your missing teeth are replaced as soon as possible.

A fixed partial denture is a prosthetic dental restoration, or filling, that is binded permanently to tooth roots, dental implants, or natural teeth. It is used to fill in spans, or gaps, caused by one or more missing teeth. The lay term for a fixed partial denture is "bridge," because its function is to "bridge" the space between teeth.

Full Dentures

Full or complete dentures replace all the teeth in both jaws. A full denture replaces all the teeth in one jaw.
Dentures are provided by general dentists, or by specialist dentists called Prosthodontists

£300  -  £1200
Immediate Dentures

mmediate dentures, as the name implies, are placed as soon as the natural teeth are removed. With immediate dentures, the patient does not face the world without teeth, can eat normally much sooner than with conventional dentures, and does not cause speech problems associated with the normal denture process. However, since healing of the gums and jaw will change the fit of immediate dentures, the patient will typically need a new set in about six months.

  • It is possible to extract all the back and front teeth at one time and insert immediate dentures. However, such an approach is problematic and generally is discouraged unless the patient has no other alternatives.
  • All teeth may be extracted with no interim denture while the jaws heal and a denture is fabricated. This is generally a more economical approach, but an individual would be without teeth for several months.

An overdenture is a type of denture that is secured by precision dental attachments. The attachments are placed in tooth roots or dental implants which have been placed specifically for the overdenture attachment. Types of overdentures include bar joint dentures and telescopic denturesIf you lose most or all of your lower teeth there is nothing to hold a denture down while you chew. An overdenture fastens a denture to the jawbone much in the way natural teeth are anchored. The adjacent teeth may be altered with locking devices or connecting bars to ensure the denture fits properly. These bar joints support the dentures better than individual implants though implants are still required to support the bars. Generally the more implants the stronger the bar and bars on the upper arch always require more implants than bars on the lower arch due to the lesser bone density in the upper jaw.

When patients have compromised bone density due to age or oral disease a telescopic denture a type of overdenture system is probably the best option. The procedure consists of a double crown system “the telescopic” and involves fitting inner metal crowns and outer crowns on the remaining natural teeth to create a natural looking removable overdenture. Though this is a reliable denture system that ensures even bite stress distribution the procedure is extremely complicated and requires root canal therapy for each remaining natural tooth and the insertion of a metal post to ensure the root is strong enough.

Some of the benefits of overdentures include the prevention of bone loss (dental implants actually strengthen the surrounding bone structure) aesthetic appeal improved speech (when compared with other types of dentures) proper jaw alignment and improved chewing efficiency.

These overdenture systems can last a lifetime and increase chewing power by up to 300%.

Dentists extract teeth for many reasons, but by far, the most common is that the patient is in pain and wants to relieve the pain as quickly, permanently and as inexpensively as possible. This does not mean that there are not other ways of relieving the pain. But the other methods are likely to be more expensive or inconvenient. Other reasons are

    Surgical Extractions

With some extraction cases a patients dentist or oral surgeon may decide that the use of some type of surgical procedure will aid in the removal of their tooth. This surgical procedure might involve bone removal, gum tissue reflection or removal, or sectioning the tooth into parts. In those situations where one or more of these techniques is incorporated into the extraction process, it is then, in dental terminology, categorized as a "surgical extraction." (Tooth extractions where these techniques are not required are termed "simple extractions.

    Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Though wisdom teeth generally do not cause problems, sometimes they may not come through the gums properly when there is not enough space for them at the back of the mouth. As a result, they do not grow in a straight line and instead emerge at an angle to fill the available space. These are known as impacted wisdom teeth, and though they cause no problems in most people, some people are vulnerable to the following as a result:

¦Swollen gums around the wisdom tooth leading to stiffness and soreness of jaw.
¦Bad breath and a bad taste as a result of infection at the back of the mouth.
¦Pain, swelling, infection, a higher risk of tooth decay, gum disease in other teeth.

    Gingivitis Treatment

Are you currently experiencing any or all of the following signs of gingivitis: bleeding gums, sore gums, bad breath, or tooth sensitivity? Is it painful for you to eat? Then you could have a condition known as gingivitis. Happily, this article contains information on methods of eliminating gingivitis and getting rid of all the physical indications of the condition. You should be able to get back to your everyday life fairly quickly.

.Gingivitis is not a condition that should be taken lightly, since if you do not seek treatment, it could turn into a severe ailment called Periodontitis. This can lead to even worse issues than you have right now, so you should seek a remedy right away.

    Gum Surgery

Periodontal diseases range from simple gum inflammation to serious disease that results in major damage to the soft tissue and bone that support the teeth. In the worst cases, teeth are lost.

Gum disease is a threat to your oral health.  Research is also pointing to possible health effects of periodontal diseases that go well beyond your mouth (more about this later). Whether it is stopped, slowed, or gets worse depends a great deal on how well you care for your teeth and gums every day, from this point forward.

    Gum Contouring and Reshaping

Gum contouring is a procedure which is most commonly done through the use of a scalpel. However, technological advances have seen special laser devices emerging in the treatment of ‘gummy smile’. The scalpel or laser will be used to trim away at any excessive gum overlying the teeth. This is a quick and often painless treatment. The scalpel will make the process slightly longer, and the laser also has the added bonus of being able to seal blood vessels during the procedure. This will help to limit the amount of blood released due to the incision. Along with the use of crowns and veneers after the treatment is complete, gum contouring is a simple procedure that can easily remedy ‘gummy smile’.

    £250  -  £600
    Soft Tissue Grafts

If gums recede severely, some of the tooths root will be exposed. This can make the tooth sensitive to hot or cold temperatures and more prone to root decay. Some people also dont like the way it looks.

Soft-tissue grafts are used to add more gum tissue. This can accomplish several things:

    Prevent further recession
    Cover the exposed root
    Stop the sensitivity
Improve the look of the tooth
Some peoples gums are naturally very thin. This increases the likelihood they will recede. In these cases, a soft-tissue graft may be done to prevent problems in the future.

    Inlay or Onlay

A dental inlay or a dental onlay is smaller than crowns but bigger then fillings. They are bonded or cemented into place. An inlay is like a filling although it lies within the cusps or bumps of the chewing surfaces of your tooth. An onlay is bigger than an inlay and it covers one or more cusps. Inalys can be made from gold, composite resin, plastic, or ceramics. They can last for several decades and will depend on

    •the material that was used
    •the teeth that are involved
    •the forces from chewing
•how well the patient takes care of them
    •the patient’s oral hygiene
•the number of visits of the patient to the dentist

    £72  -  £145
    Composite Resin Inlay or Onlay
Like any other inlays, composite inlays are made after an impression taken from the tooth to be treated. An advantage of composite inlays compared to the esthetic fillings is that they provide a proper border seal. The inlay or onlay is cemented in the cavity by a special glue. Composite inlays are an option in the case of a heavily injured tooth that can not be restored by esthetic filling.
    £150  -  £300
    Gold Inlay or Onlay
It is the most ideal solution among the conservative treatments since this is a kind of filling the shape of which can be formed with the most aesthetic result. This is the only type of filling that improves with time. The reason is that the golden filling strikes against the tooth when chewing, more precisely, the filling border adheres closely to the tooth without leaving any space, thus preventing later decay.
    £345  -  £600
    Porcelain Inlay or Onlay

Dental inlays and onlays are restorations used to repair rear teeth that have a mild to moderate amount of decay. They can also be used to restore teeth that are cracked or fractured if the damage is not severe enough to require a dental crown. Inlays and onlays are usually made from porcelain, composite resin, and sometimes even from gold. Because they can be created from tooth-colored materials, inlays and onlays are often used to replace metal fillings for patients who desire a more natural looking smile. Read on to find out about how inlays and onlays may be able to enhance your smile’s health and appearance.

    Sedation for dental treatments

Sedation dentistry involves performing dental treatment on a patient in an environment that’s stress- and anxiety-free. It’s a way for dentists to help patients overcome common dental phobias. Many people neglect going to the dentist or getting their teeth taken care of because of this phobia. Often, dental problems are left unattended till the very last moment when extreme measures are needed. Through sedation dentistry, patients are able to undergo dental treatments without any of the fear and anxiety that accompanies the treatment. Moreover, sedation dentistry reduces the number of visits required for dental treatment to just a couple of sessions. Sedation dentistry can be used to correct almost any kind of dental condition

    Sinus Lift
A sinus lift is a surgery that will add bone to your upper jaw and in the area of your premolars and your molars. A sinus lift is sometimes referred to as sinus augmentation. Bone will be added in between your jaw and your maxillary sinuses. They can be on either sides of your nose. In order to make room for the bone, the sinus membrane may be moved upward or lifted. A sinus lift is performed by a maxillofacial surgeon or a periodontist.

    Teeth Cleaning

If plaque and tartar is left on the teeth, as we mentioned before, it provides the right conditions for bacteria to thrive. The bacteria irritate the gums, which means that they bleed more easily. You may notice this if you are brushing your teeth, or eating, and sometimes your gums may bleed a bit. This is the early stage of gum disease called gingivitis. If you have gingivitis, your dentist or hygienist will clean your teeth by scaling and polishing them.

    Scaling and Root Planing

The objective of scaling and root planing, otherwise known as conventional periodontal therapy, non-surgical periodontal therapy, or dental prophylaxis is to remove or eliminate the etiologic agents which cause inflammation: dental plaque, its products and calculus, thus helping to establish a periodontium that is free of disease

    £64  -  £180
    Ultrasonic Scaling
To fight periodontal disease, we need to reduce plaque, tartar, and the number of bacteria in the pockets in your mouth. One device we use to remove calculus from teeth is an ultrasonic scaler. It consists of a wand with a small scaling tip that produces a soft ultrasonic vibration. The small, quick vibrations in combination with a water flow give us a whole new level of effectiveness in calculus removal.

A dental veneer is a thin shell of porcelain or plastic that is bonded to a tooth to improve its color and shape. A veneer generally covers only the front and top of a tooth. Dental veneers can be used to close spaces between teeth, lengthen small or misshapen teeth, or whiten stained or dark teeth. When teeth are chipped or beginning to wear, dental veneers can protect them from damage and restore their original appearance. For those who want longer teeth, Lumineers can be placed for that beautiful smile. It takes two or more appointments to restore teeth with dental veneers. During the first appointment, we shape and roughen the teeth. We then take impressions of your teeth, which we use to make precise working models of your mouth. Its on these models that we artistically craft porcelain veneers to fit the prepared teeth.During the second appointment we clean and polish the prepared teeth. Then we use an adhesive to bond the veneers to the teeth. A harmless, high-intensity light hardens the adhesive. Once in place, porcelain veneers virtually become part of the teeth. You can use them like you would your own teeth, because the bond is extremely strong. The final result is beautiful and natural looking teeth.

    Areola Reduction
ts true, most women contemplating breast enhancement in Los Angeles are considering breast augmentation, breast reduction or breast lift surgery. But for some, their concerns are confined to the look of their nipples and areolas. Some womens nipples are inverted, or turned inward. Some women feel their nipples protrude too far. For others, the problem is areolas that are too big or too puffy. But no matter what the problem is, the solution is almost always a simple procedure.
    Arm Lift

Breast implant surgery can enhance the size and shape of your breasts. Because of improvements in surgical methods and breast-implant technology, this procedure has become more refined, providing better post-surgical results than years ago. This procedure may be combined with a breast lift to provide a fully satisfactory outcome. Get the details on breast implant procedures

    Breast Implants
Breast enlargement is one of the most popular Cosmetic Surgery procedures. Small breasts or breasts that have decreased in size following childbirth and breast feeding can be a source of concern. But breast enlargement surgery is one way to make you feel more confident and feminine again.
    Breast Lift
Breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure to lift the breasts or lift breasts enhanced with breast implants. Good candidates for a breast lift are women who, for a variety of reasons such as gravity, aging, pregnancy, and breast feeding, have experienced sagging of the breasts. As the skin loses its elasticity, the breasts tend to elongate and lose their round, firmer form.
    Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction is surgery to rebuild a breasts shape after a mastectomy. It cannot give a woman back her breast - a reconstructed breast does not have natural sensations. However, the surgery offers a result that looks like a breast. Most women who had breast reconstruction are glad they did.

In breast reconstruction, a surgeon forms a breast mound by using an implant or tissues from the belly, back or buttocks. Implants are silicone sacs filled with salt water or silicone gel. The type of reconstruction you get depends on your body type, age and cancer treatment.

Breast reconstruction takes more than one surgery. Extra steps may include:

    Adding a nipple
Changing the shape or size of the reconstructed breast
Operating on the opposite breast for a better match

    Breast Reduction

Female breast reduction, also known as reduction mammoplasty, is a surgical operation to reduce the weight and volume of the breasts. During the procedure, fat, glandular tissue and skin are removed from the breasts, which are then reshaped and the nipples repositioned.

Breast size is determined by genes, hormones, body frame and weight. For most women, breast size is proportionate to the body, but for some, the breasts are particularly large.

    Brow Lift

This procedure is a subtle lifting of the skin of the forehead often combined with some removal of underlying muscle and tissue to give a more youthful appearance to the upper part of the face. Surgery will correct drooping of eyebrows, loose skin and give some improvement to facial lines.

    Cheek Implants

Cheek augmentation is a cosmetic surgery procedure that introduces silicone implants to help regain a plump, youthful look. Typically, an incision is made either below the lower lash line or on the inside of the mouth through which a cheek implant is inserted

    Chin Implant

Chin implants can be used to augment the size and shape of the chin of an individual with a recessed chin and who may also have a prominent nose. The procedure adds definition to the jaw and balances the appearance of a large nose.

    Eyelid surgery

Eye bag and eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a popular and commonly undertaken procedure that can lift droopy upper lids and reduce puffiness of bags under the eyes by removing excess skin and improving smoothness and contours.

Blepharoplasty (eyelid) surgery is fast becoming one of the most popular types of cosmetic surgery performed in the UK. The aim of this web site is to provide you with a comprehensive range of information about blepharoplasty, which will help you to make an informed decision about this procedure.

    Eye Lift

An eyelift operations, or Blepharoplasty, is the removal of excess skin, saggy muscle and sometimes fat from the eyelids. It may be performed alone or as part of a face lift procedure.

    £1800  -  £3500

A face lift can refresh and revitalise the face and neck. It can improve contours and remove heavy, tired features to make you look and even feel younger again. Our consultant surgeons believe that a face lift should aim to rejuvenate, giving you a natural, younger look

    Endoscopic Facelift

For many patients, an endoscopic face lift represents a relatively inexpensive, convenient alternative to traditional cosmetic surgery. Because the endoscopic approach is less invasive, it also involves fewer risks and a shorter recovery period than conventional face lift procedures. It can therefore be an effective way to minimize common signs of aging in the face and neck, while avoiding many difficulties associated with cosmetic surgery.

    Mini Facelift

The mini facelift is also known as micro or weekend facelift because it can be performed quickly and it takes least time to recover. In this sort of procedure, key facial areas are enhanced with lesser risk and stress that are usually found in the standard facelift surgery. The cost effectiveness of the mini facelift makes it an attractive choice. It helps to reduce minor sagging around the cheeks, neck and jawline in considerably lesser price than the usual facelift approach.

    Fat Transfer

Losing volume within the face is one of the main factors in contributing to a person’s aging appearance. Fat transfer is a revolutionary way of rejuvenating one’s face by adding volume through no incisions. All that is needed most of the time are tiny needle holes to achieve the results

90% of adolescent boys will develop male breast enlargement to one extent or another. And though it frequently resolves, it still persists in a great many men as they grow into adulthood. Gynecomastia ( man boobs ) really should not be viewed as being something abnormal, but rather something that is common, albeit undesirable. The good news is that it is very treatable.

    Liposuction Surgery
Fat deposits which cannot be removed by diet or exercise usually occur in areas such as the chin, chest, stomach, sides, back and thighs. Liposuction is a fat removal procedure that aims to eradicate excessive stubborn fat from these hard to shift areas. Liposuction should be thought of as a sculpting procedure that can change the contours of your body or face.

    Body-Jet™ Liposuction

Body jet liposuction, also known as Water Jet Liposuction (WAL) is different from conventional liposuction procedures because of the way the fat is suctioned out of the body. Instead of injecting high volumes of saline solution into the tissues to reach the fatty areas, the surgeon can use a water-spray device that simultaneously injects water into the body while taking the fat out.

    Laser Assisted Liposuction

If you are struggling to lose weight from certain areas of your body, you may be considering liposuction. Or perhaps you have always been interested in this procedure but the reported pain, swelling and other side effects associated with it made it less attractive. Laser assisted liposuction has recently been introduced into the United States and the level of interest in this new laser fat busting procedure is high.

    Neck Liposuction

Neck liposuction is a fairly straightforward procedure that usually takes thirty minutes to an hour, and is normally performed with a general anesthetic on an outpatient basis. Neck liposuction patients usually report minimal discomfort and return to work within a week.

    Neck Lift

-The typical neck lift surgery will take between two to three hours. The surgery operation time will vary in accordance to what type of surgery you will be undergoing.
-A good candidate for neck surgery is one that is in good physical health, both physically and mentally and one that does not smoke.
-Being completely honest with your plastic surgeon, especially about what you want to alter in your neck area will help ensure that the best possible results are achieved.

    Nipple Reduction

Nipple reduction surgery is a cosmetic procedure used to decrease the size of the nipple, though it may also include reshaping of the nipple in order to create a better-proportioned nipple. The procedure is most commonly requested by women who feel self-conscious or otherwise embarrassed by the size of their nipples.

Skin and cartilage are removed from behind the ears, following which they are sculpted to bend them back toward the head. Stitches may be used to help maintain the new shape, with the incision marks cleverly concealed in the natural crease behind the ear. An alternative technique, where no cartilage is removed, uses stitches to fold the exposed cartilage back on itself and so reshape the ear, again concealing the stitches in the natural crease behind the ear

    Pectoral Implants

    Pec implant material & procedure
The implant itself is a relatively soft but flexible silicone. An incision is made in the axilla (armpit) and the implants are placed directly underneath the pectoralis muscle. Surgery is performed on an out-patient basis so you will be discharged home the same day.

    Plastic Surgeon Consultation

By now, after having read enough information and viewed so many photographs of breasts, noses, eyes - whatever,  you are probably blue in the face You are probably going about your day wondering, "I wonder if she/he was born with that..." each time a someone passes you on the street.  You start going through your day trying to see if someone had a nose job or try to spot facelift scars.  Shame on you!  I am kidding, I do it, too!   Well the truth is, after having gone through the trouble of finding several possible surgeons, now its time to "screen" them.

Rhinoplasty, or surgery to reshape the nose, is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip.

This surgery of the nose narrows the wide flaring and large opening of the nasal nostrils. This may be done alone or in combination with augmentation rhinoplasty. This procedure takes around an hour or two to perform, and is usually done as an outpatient procedure, under local anesthesia, with or without sedation.

    Closed Rhinoplasty
This somewhat artificial division betweenexternal (open) and endonasal (closed) rhinoplasty has become an established part of current rhinoplasty nomenclature. Despite this, both approaches share many of the same incisions, and many of the same principles apply regardless of the approach chosen.
    Nasal Tip Surgery

Occasionally all the features of the nose are normal except for the tip whose shape is made by the alar cartilages and the covering skin. Nasal tip surgery is the most difficult part of a rhinoplasty and is occasionally done by itself usually through an open approach (a scar on the columella)

    Open Rhinoplasty
Open rhinoplasty is more suited to complicated work as it allows the surgeon greater access to your nose. The skin is lifted back so all of your cartilage and bone is exposed, allowing the surgeon to work easily.
    Thigh Lift
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis unless otherwise advised by the surgeon. Wide variations in the design of the incisions to meet clothing or personal desires are possible. Lifting the inner thighs requires only short incisions extending from the anterior part of the thigh/groin crease around to the buttock crease. Lateral or anterior thigh lifts can be performed as separate procedures if desired. The buttocks can be lifted with upper or lower scars. The doctor will show you what specific procedures are available to solve your particular problem.
    Tummy Tuck

People seek an abdominoplasty, or otherwise known as a tummy tuck, for various reasons. Some want to look as

young and attractive as they feel, other people wish to

correct a perceived imperfection. Whatever the reason,

in the hands of a skilled plastic surgeon, most of these

    imperfections could be improved.

    The Tummy Tuck
Incisions are made which are positioned to allow the

removal of surplus skin and fat deposits to achieve a

    tigher, flatter stomach area.

    Full Abdominoplasty

a full tummy tuck involves an incision around the navel and across the lower abdomen, a mini tummy tuck leaves the navel intact and requires a smaller incision. Liposuction is sometimes employed and the fat is removed from below the navel, tightening muscles from the navel to the pubis.

The Lipoabdominoplasty procedure begins with liposuction of the entire abdomen. The skin below the umbilicus is excised similar to a classic abdominoplasty, although lymphatic vessels are preserved to minimize postoperative swelling and promote a more rapid recovery from surgery. Next, limited undermining of the upper abdominal skin flap is performed, preserving many blood vessels and nerves to the abdominal wall. The rectus muscles are then plicated. Finally, the upper abdominal flap is advanced and closed with multiple layers of dissolvable sutures that minimize scar tension and postoperative scar spreading.

    Mini Abdominoplasty

A mini tummy tuck, or partial abdominoplasty, may be recommended for patients that are within 10% of their ideal body weight. This procedure is less invasive and can be done on an outpatient basis. While a full tummy tuck involves an incision around the navel and across the lower abdomen, a mini tummy tuck leaves the navel intact and requires a smaller incision. Liposuction is sometimes employed and the fat is removed from below the navel, tightening muscles from the navel to the pubis.
If your abdominal muscles require more extensive tightening and your body weight is more than 20% above your ideal weight, your plastic surgeon is more likely to recommend a full abdominoplasty. This frequently is performed with liposuction to obtain the best results

    Mole Removal

You can have your moles removed by a surgeon, but there is one catch: if the moles are not cancerous, then removing them is generally considered cosmetic surgery. This means many different insurance packages do not cover the surgery, and you would have to pay for it out of your own pocket. Because the surgery is somewhat expensive, especially if you have a lot of moles, it may simply not be an option.

Scars can be a real nuisance. They can take ages to fade and sometime don’t at all. I’m sure you have tried several different techniques to help fade and remove your scars but none work right? Hopefully some of the articles on this site will give you an idea on how you can effectively remove scars.

    Spider Veins Treatment

Varicose veins are abnormal, dilated blood vessels caused by a weakening in the vessel wall. They may appear as swollen, twisted clusters of blue or purple veins. Varicose veins are sometimes surrounded by thin, red capillaries known as spider veins (group of tiny blood vessels located close to the surface of the skin, also called telangiectasias).

Varicose and spider veins can appear anywhere, but most often appear on the legs and in the pelvic area. Most varicose veins develop near the surface of the skin.

Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure used to treat varicose veins and “spider veins.” During sclerotherapy, the physician injects a solution directly into the affected vein. The solution irritates the lining of the vessel, causing it to swell and stick together. Over time, the vessel turns into scar tissue that fades from view. Sclerotherapy is a well-proven procedure and has been used since the 1930s

    Tattoo Removal

The use of dermabrasion, salabrasion and Argon or CO2 lasers have left behind scars in place of the tattoo. The advent of Q-Switched lasers has permitted the removal of most tattoo inks with a very low risk of scarring. The Nd:YAG laser is the newest system in this class of lasers. This laser can significantly lighten or remove many tattoo inks, and is particularly advanced in the removal of blue, black and red inks. The Nd:YAG laser removes tattoo ink with the energy of light.

Just as natural sunlight is made up of light wavelengths of many colors, a laser is a device which is designed to produce one or more specific wavelengths of light. These wavelengths are either absorbed, reflected or simply passed through the skin but is absorbed by the ink. The rapid absorption of light energy causes the tattoo ink to destruct, where it is then removed by the bodys natural filtering systems.

Medical research has taught us which wavelengths of light to use and specifically how to deliver the lasers output to best remove tattoo ink. The Nd:YAG uses a light wavelength which passes through skin, but is absorbed by most inks. YAG laser also delivers the light in very short, high intensity pulses from maximum ink destruction. The use of this specific combination of wavelength and rapidly pulsed light results in minimal damage to the skin while providing maximum tattoo ink removal.

In particular, some people develop ulcerations on or around varicose veins that may be eliminated through vein stripping

    VASER Lipo™

? The patented Vaser Lipo Liposelection technology efficiently breaks up fat with diffuse ultrasound energy (similar to that used for cataract removal in the eye). The energy is delivered using small, solid, grooved probes. The liquefied fat is then removed with suction and massage using tiny cannalue designed to give minimal tissue trauma.

? Vaser ultrasound energy dissolves the fat cells and simply bounces of other structures such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue which are therefore left undisturbed giving great results.

? It is performed under local anaesthesia not general anaesthesia. This form of anaesthesia is called tumescent liposuction.

? This makes the Vaser Lipo Liposelection procedure safer with a more comfortable recovery period

    Hair Loss Treatment

    Hair Loss Treatment

Baldness and hairloss are not always inevitable, and the amount and rate of loss can often be diminished with the correct treatment. The good news is, there are now available more options than ever before, the bad news is however is that there are even more unscrupulous people selling useless lotion and potions to people who are willing to try anything to achieve their hopes and dreams

    Hair Transplant

When done right, a hair transplant surgery can produce life long results that are so natural that even hair stylists cannot detect them. But choosing the hair restoration procedure and clinic is critical.

Micrografts / Minigrafts - Hair Restoration

Micro-grafting is the procedure of hair restoration by transplanting healthy follicles into the bald areas of the scalp. A micro-graft contains hair follicles that include from one to three hairs per follicle. These follicles make up the micro-graft donor patch. Micro-grafts are removed from a donor site, which is located on either the side or back of your scalp.

Mini graft is a name change from hair plugs. It is a hair restoration procedure for transplanting 6 - 12 hairs from donor areas on the scalp. It is unnatural and easy lead to the head of a childs doll. Micrografts were frequently damaged during the removal process or were too fragile to survive.

    General Practice

Cryosurgery works by taking advantage of the destructive force of freezing temperatures on cells. At low temperatures, ice crystals form inside the cells, which can tear them apart. More damage occurs when blood vessels supplying the diseased tissue freeze

    Stitches Removal

Among the many methods for closing wounds of the skin, stitching, or suturing, is the most common form of repairing a wound. Other methods include surgical staples, skin closure tapes, and adhesives.

Removing stitches or other skin-closure devices is a procedure that many people dread. Understanding the various skin-closure procedures and knowing how they are put in and what to expect when they are removed can help overcome much of this anxiety.

•Stitches (also called sutures) are used to close cuts and wounds in skin. They can be used in nearly every part of the body, internally and externally. Doctors literally "sew" the skin together with individual sutures and tie a secure knot. Stitches then allow the skin to heal naturally when it otherwise may not come together.
Stitches are used to close a variety of wound types. Accidental cuts or lacerations are often closed with stitches. Also, surgeons use stitches during operations to tie ends of bleeding blood vessels and to close surgical incisions.

    Weight Control

Weight loss, in the context of medicine, health or physical fitness, is a reduction of the total body mass, due to a mean loss of fluid, body fat or adipose tissue and/or lean mass, namely bone mineral deposits, muscle, tendon and other connective tissue. It can occur unintentionally due to an underlying disease or can arise from a conscious effort to improve an actual or perceived overweight or obese state.

    Acne Treatment

cne treatments consist of reducing sebum production, removing dead skin cells, and killing bacteria with topical drugs and oral medications. Treatment choice depends upon whether the acne is mild, moderate, or severe.

Alternative treatments for acne focus on self care: proper cleansing to keep the skin oil-free; eating a well-balanced diet high in fiber, zinc, and raw foods; and avoiding alcohol, dairy products, tobacco, caffeine, sugar, processed foods, and foods high in iodine, such as salt.

    Birthmark Removal

There are three major types of birthmark:

    • Vascular Birthmarks: Vascular birthmarks are one of the most common types of birthmarks and are often known as ‘port-wine stains’. They can be found on all areas of the body and typically will not fade or disappear over time.
    • Macular Birthmarks: Macular birthmarks are sometimes known as salmon patches and are flat, normally light pink patches of skin. They are most commonly found on the neck and eyelids. Those on the eyelids tend to fade over time, however the marks on the neck tend not to.
    • Pigmentation Birthmarks: Pigmentation birthmarks are where the s
    Mole Assessment
Most people have a number of moles- the average is seven. Skin cancer can arise from these moles or start in normal skin. The number of people who develop skin cancer each year is increasing- possibly because of increased sun exposure as we holiday abroad. The most characteristic feature of skin cancers is recent change- either in size, shape, sensation or colour.

    Beauty Salon Treatments

Electrolysis is a way of removing individual hairs from the face or body. Todays medical electrolysis devices destroy the growth center of the hair with chemical or heat energy. A very fine probe is inserted into the hair follicle at the surface of the skin. The hair is then removed with tweezers.

Endermologie was the first treatment approved by the FDA to allow the claim of “temporary reduction of cellulite”. It is a massage machine with 2 rollers and a gentle suction action that when rolled over the top layer of fat makes a fold. Only a certified endermologist shall provide this service. This folding action stretches the connective tissue and results in the reduction of cellulite and body measurements. FDA approved claims that involved Endermologie treatments that included temporary reduction of cellulite, reduced body measurements, increased circulation, relief of muscular pain, and reduction of muscle spasms.
    Endovenous Laser Therapy

Endovenous laser treatment is a treatment for varicose veins in which an optical fiber is inserted into the vein to be treated, and laser light, normally in the infrared portion of the spectrum, is shone into the interior of the vein. This causes the vein to contract, and the optical fiber is slowly withdrawn. Some minor complications can occur, including thrombophlebitis, pain, hematoma, edema and infection, which can lead to cellulitis.

    Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment
With 240W of pulse power to tissue, the UltraPulse is 6 times more powerful than any other fractional CO laser available. The first COlasers delivered energy in continuous waves. These lasers could not produce very high peak powers for sustained periods, and therefore had limited pulse energy. As a result, charring often occurred when attempting to resurface tissue with practical spot sizes.

The Fraxel lasers works by emitting thousands of very precise pin-point columns light that pass through the skin and are absorbed specifically by the water in the damaged collagen of our skin. This action allows the laser light to remove very fine portions of damaged skin, diminishing the look of scars, wrinkles and uneven   textures.   Fraxel is "fractional" in that it intensively treats   tiny portions   of the skin   without affecting any of the surrounding tissue, which reduces healing time and promotes the skins natural process for creating new, healthier tissue to replace the damaged cells. The older, wrinkled collagen in the skin is remodeled into newer skin. As new cells form in the healing process, the skin is smoother and softer.

    IPL Skin Rejuvenation
Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive skin procedure utilsing an intense pulse light machine (IPL). IPL differs from laser treatments as it offers a non-ablative solution to improving the texture, quality, colour and health of your skin. IPL is not a laser but a broad wavelength light that is pulsed onto the skin and can treat multiple conditions simultaneously; including broken veins and capillaries, redness of the skin, age spots, mottled pigmentation, benign brown pigment and freckles. Treatment can take place over the entire body with face, neck and décolletage being the most popular areas. We see hands and shoulders being treated also.

    Laser Skin Tightening

Laser skin tightening is a minimally invasive, non-surgical process that uses an infrared light source (a laser) to tighten skin by heating the collagen under the skin’s surface, causing the skin to contract (tighten). Facial skin tightening is noticeable immediately after the treatment, and there is no downtime, making this an increasingly popular procedure. Additional skin tightening occurs over the next few months, but optimal results usually require two or three treatments about a month apart.

    Laser Wrinkle Reduction
With age comes many things, one of the worst being wrinkles. Caused by everything from cigarette smoke to dreaded time, millions of dollars are spent on lotions and creams each year by consumers battling the onset of wrinkles. After years of cold creams that dont work and countless other products that cost more than theyre worth, new procedures are offering another option to those afflicted with wrinkles. Laser wrinkle reduction uses the innovation of laser therapy to reduce the effect of deep lines. In just a few visits the results are clearly noticeable and patients are rediscovering years of youth left in their skin.
    Non-Surgical Facelift

Surgical face lift is not a one-off procedure. You have to keep coming back for maintenance because its effects are not long lasting. That’s because it does not provide anything nourishing, strengthening, or toning to your face.

So you keep on blowing thousands of dollars on something that will just continue to bring back your pre-surgical face.

    Pixel™ Laser Resurfacing

The Pixel Laser Surfacing procedure uses an Erbium Yag laser in resurfacing the skin. This treatment is state of the art, and is effective without the use of a CO2 laser and is without too much pain and downtime.

The Pixel laser technology tightens up skin on the neck, eyelids and works with overall skin quality by manipulating with the less than tight collagen fibers in the skin, while transitioning new cells. It indicates improvement in tone and texture of the skin, by reducing and almost removing discoloration due to age, UV ray exposure, while decreasing visible pore size, hyperpigmentation, and improving acne scars.

Usually completed in little under 20 minutes the results have been equal to those of traditional laser resurfacing techniques. The procedure prides itself on being performed with minimal downtime and discomfort, treatment protocols call for a series of 5 treatments, 2-4 weeks apart.

    ProFractional Laser Skin Treatment

The laser utilized in the procedure is known as the ProFractional Laser. It treats problematic areas while keeping the rest of the face intact. The laser can go beyond the skin and deeper into the facial tissue where it generates heat that is necessary for the treatment. Collagen production is boosted by this heat, which in turn alleviates skin problems. The unique quality of the ProFractional Laser is its ability to create bridges in the skin where the energy is exclusively delivered. The treatment channels lay alongside untouched areas of the skin – these neutral areas allow the treated skin patches to heal faster.

    RF Treatment
With deep, controlled heating of the fatty layers under the skin, the effects of tissue tightening and increased blood circulation mean that fatty deposits are drained through the lymphatic system, reducing the appearance of cellulite. Based on current RF technologies, most people should see at least a mild improvement in their skin tone, with a temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite and possible inch loss, with minimal risks and downtime.

    Decolletage Rejuvenation

he Decolletage (Decolleté) area is a vital and sensitive part of a woman’s body.

As women age, the effects of sun-damage and ageing take its toll on this delicate area.

At Skin Etc, we appreciate that like the hands, this area can be a tell tale sign and can be distressing for many women. The rejuvenation of the decolletage (décolleté) can restore confidence both physically and psychologically. And so we have perfected a range of options that can be helpful.

Various treatments can be employed to improve the look of the decolletage (decolleté) such as medical grade moisturisers with SPF such as Daily Moisturising Protector SPF25 from Agera Rx..

For Age- spots the use of a Pigment controlling product such as Agera Rx Phyto-lightening Cream and Mag C Peptide Serum can be helpful.

    Hand Rejuvenation
Because the skin on the back of the hands is extremely thin, the loss of  fat padding on any level shows quickly. Take away that cushion and all the structures in the hand show up - the tendons, bones and the veins. Sun damage plays a big part in the "aging hand" syndrome too. Given that your hands are nearly always routinely ignored when it comes to sunscreen - and they spend a lot of time in the "drivers seat" wrapped around a steering wheel - its no wonder they start showing their age earlier than the rest of our body.
Laser and Pulsed Light Vein Treatment

    Laser Vein Treatments:
Laser treatment is a safe and effective way to treat superficial veins on the face. At Midwest Vein Care, we consider sclerotherapy the gold standard for treating leg veins, however laser can be used on these vessels as an adjunctive treatment or when sclerotherapy is contraindicated.

Laser uses a one wavelength focused beam of light targeting the pigment in the venous blood. The absorption of the laser light causes heating of the small vein, sealing it closed whereby the body then absorbs the scar tissue. Because the light hits just the target area the surrounding skin is not damaged. Over a period of several weeks the treated veins gradually disappear.

    Radiofrequency Ablation of Varicose Veins

Today, the radiofrequency ablation (RFA) procedure is an alternative method in the treatment of varicose veins. The procedure also known as endovenous RFA is a minimally invasive technique to treat varicose veins. The procedure involves making a very small incision near the knee and threading a small catheter in the vein up to the groin. Radiofrequency waves are applied and the vein is heated. The heat destroys the vein and with time, the vein disappears. This novel procedure is done as an outpatient, involves a small incision and results in rapid recovery.

    Skin Revitalisation

Skin revitalisation to improve skin elasticity and skin smoothness

[Treatment name removed] Vital™ is a product range for skin revitalisation that works by improving skin elasticity and skin tone.

As we age, the quality of the skin changes - as collagen and elastic fibres degrade and the distribution and function of the body’s own hyaluronic acid is less efficient. This results in rougher and drier skin with less elasticity. The biological clock has an important role in this process but also lifestyle factors, such as exposure to sun, smoking and drinking..

    Chemical Peel
Chemical peels, also known as chemexfoliation or derma-peeling, are a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin. In this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin, which causes it to "blister" and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. The new skin also is temporarily more sensitive to the sun.
    £36  -  £356
    Light Chemical Peel

Light chemical peels are also known as glycolic acid peels, AHA chemical peels, or salicylic acid chemical peels. Glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that occurs naturally in sugar cane, is the most common ingredient of light chemical peels. The ingredients and formulation of a light chemical peel, however, depend upon the specific patient’s skin care needs. With light chemical peels, the chemical solution is left on the skin for a relatively short amount of time.

    £38  -  £356
    Medium Chemical Peel
Medium (TCA) chemical peels penetrate the skin more deeply than light chemical peels. In administering a medium chemical peel, the doctor applies a solution containing trichloroacetic acid to the skin. This chemical solution, which is custom formulated for each patient, works by removing the dull, damaged outer layers of skin — those affected by acne, fine lines, sun exposure, and other factors. In the week or so after treatment, these dead layers of skin slough off, revealing a new, smooth layer of skin.
    Collagen Facial
A collagen facial is a beauty care treatment that uses

     protein to revitalize the skin.

is a naturally occurring protein that is found in the skin, tissues and bones; in the skin, it is found in the lower dermis layers, and is responsible for maintaining skin structure and strength. A

facial attempts to retard the aging process by replenishing the skins natural proteins by external application.

Dermabrasion and dermaplaning help to "refinish" the skins top layers through a method of controlled surgical scraping. The treatments soften the sharp edges of surface irregularities, giving the skin a smoother appearance.

Dermabrasion is most often used to improve the look of facial skin left scarred by accidents or previous surgery, or to smooth out fine facial wrinkles, such as those around the mouth. Its also sometimes used to remove the pre-cancerous growths called keratoses. Dermaplaning is commonly used to treat deep acne scars.

    Facial Rejuvenation
Treatment for lines and wrinkles can easily be used to effect a reduction in frown lines, forehead wrinkles, bunny nose, jaw, and crows feet. Treatment for lines and wrinkles can also elevate the eyebrow area effecting a non-surgical brow lift. In the neck, Treatment for lines and wrinkles is very effective in the reduction of horizontal neck lines and in the relaxation of vertical mid neck cords, i.e., thickened bands of the underlying platysma muscle. Treatment for lines and wrinkles can also reduce lip lines, enhance lip fullness and reduce marionette lines. Where do you put Treatment for lines and wrinkles? The frown lines between the eyebrows are caused by the action of muscles called "the corrugators". These are located just under the inner aspect of the eyebrows and can be felt as a thickening in this area when you frown.

    Waxing and Hair Removal

    IPL Hair Removal
PL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. IPL treatments are often referred to as photo rejuvenation, Photofacial or IPL Photofacial due to its use of "selective photothermolysis" during treatment. Photothermolysis is the process by which IPL lasers convert light energy to heat energy and treat unwanted hair and skin pigments. IPL lasers can use photothermolysis to remove unwanted hair, or to correct skin hyperpigmentation, rosacea, age spots and the appearance of sun damage.

    Laser Hair Removal

There are many ways to remove unwanted hair including shaving, plucking, electronic tweezers, radiofrequency tweezers, waxing, depilatories (creams), and electrolysis (inserting a needle into each hair follicle one at a time followed by an electric spark to burn out the follicle). Most of these methods, however, are temporary. A topical cream called eflornithine can be applied to slow hair growth on the face in women, but must be used on an ongoing basis. Lasers offer the only method for permanent hair reduction.

Waxing is a method of semi-permanent hair removal which removes the hair from the root. New hair will not grow back in the previously waxed area for two to eight weeks. Almost any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, bikini area, legs, arms, back, abdomen and feet. There are many types of waxing suitable for removing unwanted hair.

Waxing is accomplished by spreading a wax combination thinly over the skin. A cloth or paper strip is then pressed on the top and ripped off with a quick movement against the direction of hair growth.[1] This removes the wax along with the hair. Another method utilizes hard wax (as opposed to strip wax). In this case, the wax is applied somewhat thickly and with no cloth or paper strips. The wax then hardens when it cools, thus allowing the easy removal by a therapist without the aid of cloths. This waxing method is very beneficial to people who have sensitive skin.
