Ma. Irene Tangco, MD is a certified Aesthetic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with extensive training and experience in the field of cosmetic surgery as well as reconstructive surgery. Prepared by earlier education at St. Theresa`s College and Ateneo de Manila University, Dr. Tangco went through the full requirements of medical schooling at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. Her Medical Internship and General Surgery Residency were completed under the high standards of the University of Santo Tomas Hospital. These prerequisites qualified her to pursue a Fellowship Training in the most respected program of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, also at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital. These credentials paved the way for Dr. Tangco to receive a scholarship grant from the Katholischer Akademischer Auslander Dienst to do post-graduate Fellowship in Plastic Surgery at the City of Cologne Medical Center in Cologne, Germany from 1991 to 1993.
Upon her return to Manila, Dr. Tangco was immediately invited to join the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Santo Tomas and welcomed to practice as a Plastic Surgeon at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital. In 1999, she assumed the position of Chief of Section of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery of the University of Santo Tomas Hospital. A most important program of this Section is the continued education and training of the next generations of Plastic Surgeons in the Philippines. The active Plastic Surgery practice in this institution allows the Plastic Surgeon trainees a direct exposure to the various fields of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery both in the clinics and the operating rooms.
Dr. Tangco has also joined the active Plastic Surgery practice at the St. Luke`s Medical Center - Global City. Furthermore, she has surgical privileges in other major Metro-Manila hospitals including the Makati Medical Center, Cardinal Santos Memorial Medical Center, Asian Hospital and Medical Center, and Chinese General Hospital. With her expertise and experience, Dr. Tangco was also invited to join the Plastic Surgery Associates, an exclusive group of certified plastic surgeons practicing in Metro-Manila. This group specializes in cosmetic and aesthetic plastic surgery procedures done in an ambulatory surgical care facility in a mall setting.
