I graduated from Nottingham University medical school in 1995 and trained as a junior surgeon in Nottingham hospitals. I undertook a higher degree researching the Hand condition Dupuytren’s Disease for 2 years at the RAFT institute at Mount Vernon Hospital in London, completing my MD in 2004. Clinical Plastic Surgery then became the focus, undergoing specialist training in Sheffield, Leicester and Nottingham and completing my higher surgical training by attaining the Royal College of Surgeon final exit exam, FRCS (Plast) in 2007. Currently I am:

• a holder of a UK CCST (Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training) in Plastic Surgery
• a registered Specialist in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with the NZ Medical Council
• on the UK GMC Specialist Register for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
• a member of the New Zealand Association of Plastic Surgeons

And

• have published extensively in plastic and hand surgery and presented at national and international meetings.
• maintain continuing professional development through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons
• am an honorary senior lecturer for the university of Otago department of Surgery

Cathi is the practice manager.

She has been nursing since 1979 having trained at Palmerston North.

Cathi has had a wide range of experience working in the fields of orthopaedics, oncology, general surgery, recovery and nursing management positions.

Cathi became a plastic surgery specialist practice manager in 1999.

Penny is the practice nurse and helps in the local anaesthetic theatre as well as doing dressings and helping to counsel patients for some procedures.

She trained in Palmerston North qualifying in 1990. She worked in orthopaedics before then spending 13 years as a “Post Anaesthetic Care” (Recovery) Nurse. During this time Penny established the New Zealand National Conference for Post Anaesthesia Nursing. She was also the Surgical Project Manager for ICU/Theatres at the New Wellington Regional Hospital.
