Dr. Tulip, a well known and dynamic laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon completed her Masters degree in general surgery in the year 1996. In her pursuit of laparoscopy, she completed her fellowship in minimally invasive surgery in the year 2005. Her thirst for enhanced knowledge continued and Dr. Tulip studied Bariatric Surgery in early 2006 under the expert guidance of the renowned laparoscopic surgeon of international fame, Dr. M Ramesh. She then went on to improve her skills at Bariatric surgery in the United States under the leadership of Dr. Sayeed Ikramuddin, who heads a centre for excellence in Bariatric Surgery in the University of Minnesota. Presently she works with Vikram Hospital, Sagar Hospital and A.V Hospital in Bangalore and has been associated with Dr. M Ramesh in the Department of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery.
Her major endeavor is to reach out to the society and inculcate the thought “Prevention of Obesity is better than cure”. For those who have already crossed the boundary of obesity, Dr. Tulip ensures her dedicated care and expertise in the field of Bariatric surgery comes into play.

r. Makam Ramesh, best known for his surgical skills, teaching experience, innovations and research, is a pioneer in Minimally Invasive Surgery in the state of Karnataka, in India. He was the first surgeon to perform almost every type of advanced laparoscopic surgery in the State and has also pioneered hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery in the country. He was also a part of the pioneering team in India in Bariatric Surgery, headed by Dr. Sunil Sharma, who performed the first Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgery in India.

He established the world renowned Bangalore Endoscopic Surgery Training Institute & Research Centre, with the help of which he has trained over 1000 practising surgeons from 5 continents and has been involved in several innovations including BEST endotrainer, Virtual Reality Laparoscopic Surgery Simulator, and Circulation pump(used for training in Minimal Invasive Surgery). He also started the first Fellowship Course in Minimal Invasive Surgery affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.

As a consultant at A.V. Hospital, St. Martha’s Hospital, Agadi Hospital, Bangalore Institute of Oncology, Mallya Hospital, Sagar Hospital and Narayana Hrudayalaya, Dr. Ramesh has not only performed thousands of advanced laparoscopic surgeries, but has also been invited to demonstrate surgeries in over 65 National and International Workshops and to deliver lectures and orations in several conferences in Asia and Europe. He currently heads the Department of Minimal Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Vikram Hospital, Bangalore and A.V. Hospital Bangalore.

He is also on the Advisory Board of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Studies to Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Studies and Research, a deemed to be University. He is also a member of the Rs. 200 Crore National Programme of Micro and Smart Substances, involved in research and innovations in Micro and Nano technologies.

For the past 10 years, Dr. Ramesh has focused on establishing Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery in India. Having trained in Bariatric Surgery and obtaining Fellowships in USA and Germany, Dr. Ramesh is currently involved in “Weight-loss” practice.
