Papaioannou Plastic Surgery

I was born and raised in Thessaloniki and I am a graduate of Anatolia College. I completed my medical sudies at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and continued with my rular service in the Sismanogleio hospital of Komotini in general surgery. Then I started my specialization in Germany, completing my training in general surgery at the state hospital in Pirmasens and later trained as a resident in plastic surgery, in the hospitals Asklepios Wandsbek of Hamburg, the University Hospital of Magdeburg and the Hospital of Braunschweig. After completing my training I worked as a specialist consultant in the hospital of Braunschweig, with focus on breast reconstruction after mastektomy. During my stay in Germany was involved in scientific research and also wrote my doctoral thesis (Dr. Med.) on the clinical evaluation of diseases of the wrist compared to arthroscopic findings.

 I dealt largely with cosmetic surgery, breast surgery, microsurgery and hand surgery, especially with the minimal invasive surgery of the hand and wrist. I am practicing as a plastic surgeon in Thessaloniki and also work in clinic in Germany.

I was born in the city of Drama in 1952, where I also finished high school. I studied in the Medical school of A.U.Th. (Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki) from where I graduated in November of 1976. Following my military service where I served as a soldier Doctor, came the rural service in the Orthopaedic Clinic of Drama’s General Hospital. I then completed the two years of General Surgery in the General Hospital of the city of Kavala and was trained in the basic department of Plastic Surgery in the city of Sheffield in England and the Hospital of Queen Victoria in East Grinstead. I completed my education practising Otorhinolaryngology for six months at the Kent and Sussex Hospital in Tunbridge Wells.

I was given the title of special Plastic Surgeon in November 1985 when I started my private practise and was a Surgeon at the "Saint Lukas" clinic of Thessaloniki. In 1987 I was given the title of lecturer in the Medical School of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki.

I have attended a slew of seminars in various parts of the world and presented as a speaker various original studies.

Finally, I have made 7 trips to the United States in order to observe various known surgeons at work or take part in highly specialized workshops with practical applications in new surgical techniques.
