Dr. George Rigas, a plastic surgeon born in Athens, studied at the Medical School of the Universities of Ferrara and Perugia in Italy, where his dissertation, entitled “Dysplasia and Neoplasia of the Vagina”, was awarded grade 7, the highest grade for a reference paper.
He started his career as medical intern at the Neurosurgery and Urology Clinic at the 251 Air Force Hospital in Athens, Greece. Later on he worked at the Health Centre at Kranidi, treating acute medical and surgical emergencies in the county of Ermioni.
Dr. Rigas continued as external assistant physician at the surgery clinic at Tzaneio Hospital of Piraeus, actively participating in all surgical cases, while later on, was in charge of the medical centre at Laganas on the island of Zakynthos, where he treated various pathological and surgery cases.
He also worked in the clinic of head and neck plastic and reconstructive surgery at the “Agios Savvas” Cancer Hospital in Athens, while soon after he was offered a residency at the plastic and reconstructive surgery, microsurgery and hand surgery clinic at the University of Bordeaux in France. At the same time, Dr. Rigas received certification in microsurgery from the Athens Accidents’ Hospital (KAT), as well as certification and specialization in plastic and reconstructive surgery from the Specialties’ Committee of the Athens Municipality.
He has been practicing plastic and cosmetic surgery ever since, as specialized plastic surgeon, working with major private hospitals in Athens and Piraeus, as well as with insurance companies. At the same time, he has been actively working in the area of hair transplant as the person in charge and scientific director at the Athens Dermatological Center DHI.
The Surgeon has attended numerous medical conferences and seminars and has received awards for papers and publications in scientific journals.
Apart from his mother tongue, Greek, Dr. Rigas is fluent in the English, French and Italian language.
