One of the most frequent interventions in our Clinic is the augmention mammoplasty or the enlargement of breasts. This is an intervention by which the volume of the breast is augmented and its shape is improved.The surgery is performed: * with women who have naturally small breasts * after the atrophy after giving birth * for correction of asymmetric breasts * as reconstructive surgery after surgical removal of cancerIn this intervention an implant is inserted in the area behind the gland (retroglandular position) or behind the muscle (retromuscular position). The incisions are located in the area of the lower rim of the areola (darkly pigmented area around the nipple), in the area of the ridge between the breast and the chest or in the axilary pit. The wounds are finished by fine surgical technique resulting in minimally visible scars. The scars are red at first but they become paler. Each approach has its advantages and disadvantages. When you come for consultations you will be informed on them.Types of implantsIn our Clinic we mainly use the implants of the renowned company Mentor. They may be of different shape and profile. The external layer is made of silicone and they are filled with physiological solution or cohesive silicone of the latest generation. Before the surgery we will explain to you all the advantages and disadvantages of different types of implants.
Liposuction  
Liposuction, hydro- liposuction and lipo- sculpturing are terms for surgical method which are used to sculpt the body by suction of fat from some parts of the body. Typical accumulations which have negative impact on woman’s body are the abdominal wall, thighs, hips, area of riding trousers, internal part of the knee, upper arm and chin. Sometimes also liposuction of the area around the ankles is performed. Liposuction is not a method of weight loss and is therefore not recommended for persons whose weight is significantly above ideal. The principle of the procedure is to first introduce liquid to facilitate the removal of fat tissue and diminish the bleeding. After that hollow tubes are used to remove excess fat in symmetric layers on both sides. After the procedure the skin is retracted to the new layer. In order to facilitate the retraction, the patient wears a bodice for a couple of weeks. We have recently started to use the so called oscillating hollow tubes which enable the insertion of much thinner tubes so the recovery is much faster and the bruising is less expressed. Liposuction with male patients Accumulation of fat tissue may diminish the harmonious body image with men, particularly in the area of the waist, lower abdomen (love handles) and in the area of the chest (ginecomasty) (link to ginecomasty). The principle of the procedure as well as the post- operational course are the same as in liposuction for women.

Silicone implants are soft and cannot easily be detected by touching or pressing on the breast. It is important to realise that patients can nurse without any difficulty, after having an implant, and that the breast remains accessible for all medical examinations because the implant is placed bellow the breast gland or below the breast muscle. The incision can be made in the armpit, near the nipple or below the breast. Considering these locations, the scar is not visible after the operation.
