I have been having treatment at the Cliffs Chiropractic Clinic for many years. I am a chiropractor myself and I would strongly recommend this clinic. Very professional and caring, from the receptionists, all the way through to the doctors and other therapists. Great place! 😊

I met the Chiropractors many years ago and have always found them kind and caring. The clinic itself is spotlessly clean and always comfortable. The treatment is second to none. I would highly recommend Cliffs!

Adjustments and acupuncture

I have been using the services of the Cliffs Chiropractic Clinic for a few years now after suffering some serious injuries in accidents. My symptoms have been alleviated and I now only go to the clinic for maintenance checkups about once a month which normally keeps me relatively fit and healthy. I recently had a major acute episode of back pain and attended the clinic on an emergency basis - I could barely walk and was in severe pain and under normal circumstances I would probably have ended up in hospital. BUT as a result of going to the clinic I was back on my feet within 4 days and almost pain free. Amongst other things I had a course of acupuncture - absolutely wonderful, don't be a sceptic - if offered acupuncture then take it and see what it can do. It was marvellous for me and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Overall this is the place to go if you need chiropractic help - all the staff are friendly and professional and you receive a first class service. Review by Colin Butcher, Southend-on-Sea.

At a Consultation you will be welcomed and asked to fill out a brief questionnaire relating to your general health and contact details.

After watching a short video you will have a better understanding about chiropractic and how your nerves, spine and joints work and can cause pain.

You will be given a tour of the clinic and introduced to your chiropractor.

Your chiropractor will consult with you in confidence, asking detailed questions relating to your present complaint, past history and lifestyle. You will have the time to provide him with all relevant information.

Your area of complaint, entire spine and posture will be examined thoroughly using neurological, orthopaedic and physical tests.

The chiropractor uses specialised palpatory techniques which will note changes in your muscle tone and joint movement patterns. These motion tests are also carried out before each treatment to evaluate your progress.

If necessary you will be x-rayed or referred for MRI. Your

appointment will be made at this time, usually within a few days.

Chiropractic is a profession that specialises in the diagnoses, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculo- skeletal system and its effects upon the spinal nerves. It takes five years in full time education to become a chiropractor.

Chiropractors use their hands to adjust your spine and limbs where signs of restriction in movement occur, improving mobility, easing pain and inflammation and relieving any pressure on spinal nerves. Western medical acupuncture is a therapeutic modality involving the insertion of fine needles; it is an adaptation of Chinese acupuncture using current knowledge of anatomy physiology and pathology, and the principles of evidence based medicine. While Western medical acupuncture has evolved from Chinese acupuncture, its practitioners no longer adhere to concepts such as Yin/Yang and circulation of qi, and regard acupuncture as part of conventional medicine rather than a complete “alternative medical system”. It acts mainly by stimulating various trigger points probably nerve fibres to release the bodys own opiods. Western medical acupuncture is principally used by conventional healthcare practitioners, most commonly in primary care.

Arif Soomro graduated in 1988 from the Anglo European College of Chiropractic, he founded The Cliffs Chiropractic Clinic in 1994 with his wife Melanie, also a chiropractor. The Clinic grew rapidly and is now a multi-disciplinary centre. All of the chiropractors in the clinic are registered with the GCC, members of The British Chiropractic Association and Members of the College of Chiropractors. Arif Soomro qualified in 2001 as a specialist paediatric chiropractor and is a Certified Chiropractic Paediatric Practitioner.  Arif Soomro is also a member of the U.K.’s College of Chiropractic Paediatric Faculty and a professional member of Back Care the national charity for back pain. 

An Essex school school asked Dr. Soomro to advise and assist in obtaining ergonomic desks and chairs for their students. They are Britain’s first school to do this with the aim of improving the children’s posture and aid concentration, combining it with a daily exercise routine devised and taught by Arif. He has since been asked to advise on the Parliamentary Advisory Committee for Healthy Schools.
