Dermal Fillers

As we age our bodies are under constant attack from the weather, the sun, pollution, fatigue, hormone changes and the natural ageing process. As a result of ageing, the skin’s production of hyaluronic acid declines. Hyaluronic acid is needed to retain moisture and keep the skin plump. This inevitable moisture loss causes the lines, folds and creases around the mouth, nose, jaw, cheeks and lips, giving us an older and more tired image. Dermal fillers are a gel-like substance which contain hyaluronic acid. Injectable dermal fillers allow us to restore facial volume and improve the appearance of unwanted lines, creases and folds. By replacing facial volume in targetted areas, skin will appear smoother and feel softer, giving an overall more youthful look.

Doctor Joanna graduated from the University of Dundee in 2009 with Honours. She was awarded the Lloyd Turton Price Prize in Surgery and the Sir James Mackenzie Prize in Medicine and Therapeutics. Following this Joanna moved to Newcastle upon Tyne where she successfully completed specialty training in Sexual Health. Whilst living in Newcastle Joanna ran a successful aesthetics business In 2017 Joanna moved to Glasgow to work as a NHS Consultant. Initially Joanna continued her aesthetic involvement by working in several other aesthetic clinics in Glasgow before deciding to open The Beauty Doctor clinic in 2018
