It’s an excellent facility, and the communication was superb

5 50 Gastric Band

I went for gastric band surgery at Tonic Weight Loss. The really good reviews made this clinic seem like the best option for me. It was value for money, but I’m experiencing some issues with the recovery at the moment. I had follow-ups, but since the problems started, I’ve had to go to the NHS to find out what the issues are.

I was very pleased with the hospital and the clinic. It’s an excellent facility, and the communication was superb. During a telephonic consultation, they gave me the price, and the clinic kept in touch with me all the time. The problems I’m experiencing right now have nothing to do with the treatment. I was probably a bit ill at the time, which caused complications.

Bariatric Surgery Consultation

Your Consultation

Planning starts with your consultation…..

Consultations should only be given by one person, a highly experiencedsurgeon who is the only one capable of determining whether you are a suitablecandidate for the surgery that you are asking for.  Counsellors, or nursing, irrespective oftheir experience are not licensed to operate and although they may assist withsimple explanations, you should not allow yourself to be placed in a situationwhere they advise surgery.

At theconsultation you will not find counsellors. All consultations are carried outby highly trained Cosmetic GMC Registered Surgeons.

We do not charge for Consultations. A very high degree of knowledge and skill is required for awell-balanced opinion about the necessity for the operation in which you may beinterested.  You must appreciate thateven when the advice is not in favour of surgery, it comes from a highlyqualified person who has given his time, attention and experience to yourproblem, consulting, both pre and post-operatively accounts for over 50 percent of surgeons times and good ones do not give this time away.  Neither will they tell you that you needsurgery when you don’t.

Surgeons build reputation not only by the work they carry out, but thework they decline.

Duodenal Switch

The primary advantage of duodenal switch surgery is that its combination of moderate intake restriction with substantial calorie malabsorption results in a higher percentage of excess weight loss versus a purely restrictive gastric bypass for all individuals.
£4395 - £4995

Gastric Balloon

An Intragastric Balloon is a smallinflatable balloon, which can be used as a temporary aid to achieving weightloss in moderately obese patients.   This will mean that you can only eat small meals as the balloon willfill a large proportion of your stomach. You may also have the feeling of beingfuller for longer. Who is suitable for a Intra gastric Balloon?Whether or not you are suitable for aIntra gastric Balloon can only be decided after a careful discussion with asurgeon who specialises in treating obesity (bariatric surgeon). An Intragastric Balloon may be anoption for a person:To provide a short term solution forpatients who are struggling with their individual weight loss challenge. Or who has a BMI of 27  or more –in order to get body weight to a safer level before performing further weightloss surgery
Gastric Band

Gastric Band

Who is suitable for a Gastric Band operation?Whether or not you are suitable for an operation can only be decided after a careful discussion with a Surgeon who specialises in treating obesity. Surgery may bean option for a person:o  Who has a BMI of 30 or moreo  Who has a BMI of 30, and a medical condition that would be improved by losing weighto  Who has made serious prolonged attempts to lose weight by other meanso  Aged 18 or oldero  Who does not have medical or psychological factors that make them unsuitable for an operationo  Who is fit enough for an operation and a general anaesthetico  Who commits to long term follow up. o   We do not offer weight loss surgery to people who smoke. This information is for people who are having or thinking about having an operation to fit a gastric band. This is usually done by Keyholeor Laparoscopic Surgery. Gastric Banding is a type of weight loss surgery. The size of your stomach is reduced using a band so that only small meals can be eaten and you feel fuller sooner. Most patients will go home the day after their operation.Your surgeon will explain the benefits and risks of having a gastric band fitted, and will also discuss the alternatives to the operation. It is important to remember that your care may be different from how it is described here because it is adapted to meet your individual needs. We have learned that many potential problems after the surgery are related to the diet and most can be avoided byfollowing some simple rules.

Gastric Band to Bypass/Sleeve Revision Surgery

Gastric band to bypass revision surgery

There can be cases of weight regain or insufficient weight loss after a Gastric Bypass has taken place. In order to add more restriction or malabsorption, two potential procedures to consider are:

• Conversion Band to bypass
• Conversion Sleeve to bypass
• CONVERSION OF LAPROSOCPIC BAND TO EITHER A BYPASS OR A SLEEVE - Revision Surgery

• CONVERSION OF A BYPASS TO A LAPROSOCPIC BAND - Revision Surgery

In the  case of weight regain, or insufficient weight loss, a conversion or also called revision surgery from an initial  weight loss operation to a Gastric Bypass is certainly possible.

In most cases a conversion of an adjustable gastric banding to a Gastric Bypass can take place in one procedure. There are circumstances where  two interventions are necessary and this is when the gastric wall of your stomach where the band has been placed, is too fragile to form a new connection between your small bowel and that part of your upper stomach where the band was placed.

Here at Tonic we understand and cater to each individual patient’s needs. We aim to support, guide and help you reach your ultimate weight goal and also offer you the best aftercare services.
