About Balmoral Physiotherapy

Balmoral Physiotherpy Clinic is a team of professional chartered physiotherapist located South Gosforth. They provide effective physiotheraputic treament to help improve body fuction and healing exercise, hands-on treament, and electrotherapy. The clinic treats back and neck pain, frozen shoulder, sports injusries, and arthritis to mention a few. Each treatment session lasts about forty mintues. At the first appointment the patient's condition will be assessed and a treatment plan created. Weekend and evening appointments are also available.

Maxine Deas MCSP BSc Hons Physiotherapy

Biography:
Experience Maxine qualified in 1993 from North London School of Physiotherapy with a BSc Hons in Physiotherapy with Human Sciences and worked in the NHS in and around London for four years, followed by a year in Blackpool. In 1998 Maxine came to Newcastle upon Tyne and joined Balmoral Physiotherapy where she became a Partner in 2001. Interests/Speciality Maxine started specialising in musculo-skeletal outpatients in 1995. She has a keen interest in the treatment of complex chronic spinal conditions. Treatment techniques incorporate 'hands-on' manipulation of joints and muscles and complimented by the use of a structured, specific exercise programme. This may include the use of a 'gym ball' - which is a fun, dynamic approach to strengthening core muscles throughout the body.

David Deas MCSP BSc Hons Physiotherapy

Biography:
Experience David qualified in 1993 from the North London School of Physiotherapy with a BSc Hons in Physiotherapy with Human Sciences. He then worked in the NHS in London and Blackpool for five years before moving to Newcastle upon Tyne in 1998 where he worked for three years at a private Sports Injury Clinic. In 2001 he joined Balmoral Physiotherapy, where he became a Partner in 2004. Interests/speciality David has a keen interest in spinal and sports injuries. He has treated a variety of sportsmen and women including tennis and golf professionals, members of the Newcastle Eagles Basketball team and members of the Newcastle ‘AA’ swimming squad.

Carol Evans MCSP Grad Dip Phys

Biography:
Experience Carol qualified in 1969 at St Thomas’ Hospital, London where she then worked for several years in the NHS in several Physiotherapy disciplines before specialising in musculo- skeletal conditions. In 1986 Carol founded Balmoral Physiotherapy in Partnership with Angel Powell. Since its establishment, the clinic’s friendly atmosphere and reputation for immediate and professional care has ensured its steady growth and expansion to the well-established treatment centre it is today. Interests/speciality Diagnosis and treatment of general musculo-skeletal conditions. As a student, she was taught manipulative skills by Dr James Cyriax himself.

Ruth McKeown MCSP BSc Hons Physiotherapy

Biography:
Experience Ruth qualified in 1993 with a BSc Hons in Physiotherapy from Northumbria University. She then worked within the NHS in the North East before joining Balmoral Physiotherapy in 2005 Interests/Speciality Ruth holds a Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine including Spinal and Advanced Procedures. She is also qualified to provide Acupuncture and Injection Therapy. She has worked on rehabilitation programmes with representative athletes in Rugby, Cycling and Skiing. She is a ‘hands-on’ therapist with a keen interest in prevention of injury.

Nicola Rose MCSP BSc Hons Physiotherapy

Biography:
xperience Nicky (Nicola) qualified with a BSc Hons Degree in Physiotherapy in 1994 at the University of Westminster and St Mary’s, London. From 1994 – 2002 she worked in London NHS hospitals, specialising in musculo-skeletal conditions from 1996. From 2002-2007 she worked in a Private outpatient clinic in Edinburgh. Since 2004 she has also worked part-time as a lecturer at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. She is also a published author in Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and prior to qualifying as a Physiotherapist, she completed a Degree in Psychology. Interest/speciality Whilst in Edinburgh, she worked as a specialist Physiotherapist treating patients with musculo-skeletal and vestibular conditions and worked directly with the Sports Medicine Consultant. She has a keen interest in complex musculo-skeletal problems, vestibular conditions and is a qualified Pilates instructor. She is a member of Special Interest groups in Sports Medicine, Orthopaedics, Acupuncture and Vestibular Rehabilitation.
