Non-traditional acupuncture or medical dry needling reinterprets the traditional apparatus of "meridians" and "points" and is based on the modern understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathology. In many cases dry needling is used on "trigger points" in muscles, these are tender points within muscles which cause pain when pressed and radiate pain to other areas. Needling the trigger points can relieve pain in these distant areas. Acupuncture can still work even when there are no trigger points. In such cases it is thought it acts by changing the ways in which the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) is transmitting information about pain. If considered suitable by your practitioner, medical dry needling can be used to treat different forms of pain, particularly pain in the muscles and joints. It has also been found to help in a range of other disorders, including headaches and migraines, painful periods and ulcerative colitis.

I came in with a horrible infection all over my toes, I tried having treatments in Australia but every podiatrist said that it was not treatable, Dr Marion and Stephanie were incredibly empathetic, helped calm my fears through the whole process and actually gave me hope, they were so understating and their approach was tailored to me, not one size fits all. I started seeing significant results even 1 month in, and after 3 months I felt confident to be able show my toes in public and 6 months after that my toes were completely clear and free of infection!!! I’m so so happy. Especially as a young female in my 20’s it felt so tormenting but I am so happy now.

Over the years I have suffered from aching lower back pain, and shoulder pain. I have been wearing a shoulder support brace and support vest for many years. I cannot leave home without them. I then pulled a muscle in my back, so I finally went to get this all sorted out once and for all. I am seeing Lucy, this is my second visit, and I am already feeling the deference. Lucy identified the problem right away. I have lost strength in my lower back, and my core is very weak. Lucy is very warm and friendly; I feel very comfortable with her. she has explained in great detail why I have been wearing my support braces for so many years and has encouraged me to trust myself and to start believing that I will be ok without my support braces. I have not worn them for 3 days now, when I start to feel the shoulder pain, it reminds me to hold my core, and surprisingly enough the pain eases up. Since doing the specific exercises and practicing holding my core and controlling my breathing, I already feel better about myself. Thank you, Lucy.
